So...colonies! Be they in the wastes outside the Basin, in pockets of Aetherspace, or in some more fantastical location such as the floor of the Inner Sea or the caverns deep beneath the earth, there's a lot of potential here.

Neat idea! I always thought it was meant to happen. It just makes sense that the resources gathered from occupied villages are best put to use in expansion. And I'm not talking about the commodities gained.
Each village obviously has its own set of special skills to offer a new colony, and they all have a perfectly able set of future colonists. Perhaps make the birthrates of the colonies part of something each Commune/City must work to protect? It'd include providing food, building shelters, assessing local dangers...

All of this has to have fun mini-quests, of course.
Like finding a source of food, helping find a mineral deposit, helping build a new townhouse(city)/longhouse(commune), etc.

What else could these colonies do? Could they help the Organization theyre linked to gain power, resources, gold? Could they act as midlevel quest and hunting areas?
Serenwilde - Some rabid animals are attacking the denizens of the forest; do a quest to seal them for awhile, or kill them and sell their corpses for gold and still achieve the same though for a shorter time span?
Celest - Tainted creatures threaten the safety and purity of the town, quest to purify them. Kill and sell them?
Glomdoring - Um..no ideas here. Sorry! Im trying to keep them all relevant but..I dont honestly know
Magnagora - A deluge of water threatens the town, are trying to release the waters to purify the town. Rally the townspeople to defend the town. Or just kill those trying to release.
My ideas are based on the need to get the higher people out of the main hunting areas, whats attacking the towns can be harder, or good for those younger. If harder allow for either outside Basin/Aetherspace, if midlevel outside Basin would be best.

Was just trying suggesting some things for uniqueness, but I understand where youre coming from. I think mini-quests would be a good link for them, or just bashing to achieve the same. It kinda goes with pacifists and non-pacifists. And youre given the choice of what you want to do. Maybe counter mini-quests would be nice too

A group of pixies steal and horde up Moonhart nuts and then start planting them like crazy around Glomdoring, the wyrd has the same effect on the Moonhart trees as everything else, and they grow like crazy. Maybe since they are from another commune's Nexus it has a sort of disruptive effect and things in Glomdoring begin to change as the Moonhart trees grow and
more of them are brought in. It could have a purifying effect on Rowena and Brennan or something. Not that we'd really care what happened to them, but it'd be nice if Rowena didn't spit at me anymore.

Sounds an awful lot like supervillages to me, most of the things you people have mentioned could probably just as easily be put into villages, couldn't they?

I personally think there should be at least some sort of resource you can only get from Aetherspace, be it something absolutely necessary or a very desirable luxury. THen we can go from there.

It would interesting to see how this works in aetherspace. Perhaps it could use the existing bubbles? It could extend existing quests, like the one in Candyland or that new one with the troops, to work in favour of whoever finished the quest.

Well, it would go well with Magnagora - granted, probably not with its recent change to being the Sovereign Territories.
I personally love the idea. What would be neat is if we could have something like Imperians Townes system (Yes, I know we have villages which are basically that, but theirs looks so much cooler) where we can colonize and have people watch over it.

Way I picture it, colonies could cost power to maintain. Unlike villages, which are established and actually serve as power sources. Colonies are new and unintegrated into the souls of their citizens and the chi (for lack of a better term) of their land. Therefore, some power tithe from the patron nexus is required to maintain various parts of the colony. On the other hand, they give commodities and perhaps some other goodies.

I like that idea to be honest. Be really nice if this could happen, we see people come from outside the Basin but we can never leave it. We know of all these Great Spirits and we can never meet them. Two Elemental planes and two Cosmics unable to be entered.

Er, why? What's the point of colonizing aetherspace? For as long as aetherspace is just a playground for rich people, I don't see a point. There should be something in Aetherspace that the Basin needs that would lead it to colonizing. The only high-value commodity in the Basin seems to be Power. Nobody would spend Power to mantain a colony for no reason other than coolness.
