Pretty sure breathe fire just sets the person on fire, doesn't deal any direct fire damage.
Unknown2006-07-21 18:12:11
Firebreath is good only for ratting, if you are desperate enough to lower yourself to do that.
It doesn't set the target on fire, but even if it did - burning in Lusternia was always broken, sets down after a few seconds without doing any damage.

Firewall burning isn't broken, and I think Dracnari fire works too. I'm almost positive it sets you on fire, Jack used to always light up Guido.

I believe the short answer is no, we don't need another racial overhaul. There are far more important issues. If anything, just toss Trill a few more stats.
Unknown2006-07-21 22:10:52
Tae'dae have it far worse than Trill.
Soll2006-07-21 22:12:58
Yeah, Tae'dae have it pretty bad.

There is no way to balance Tae'Dae, ever, without removing everything that makes them Tae'Dae, sorry.

The image of an angel-like Trill guardian of Celestia, the Holy Plane is what drew me to this game. But Trill are squishy. Tervic will agree.

11 con with some pretty nice resistances (I'd say cold and electricity is more useful than magic) and even conditional regen? You're not a tank, but you're not squishy. I'd definitely throw you at least another point of charisma, though, maybe level 1 balance.
Daganev2006-07-21 22:43:29
You don't think that boosting a tae'dae up to 12 or 14 int, so they arn't so susceptable to mana kills won't balance them out?
Sylphas2006-07-21 22:45:09
No. If they stay as slow as they are, they can be unkillable by any sort of damage and still not be balanced.
Unknown2006-07-21 22:53:41
Mana kills are the very least of a Tae'dae's worries.

Maybe equilibrium, not balance? It'd fit in with their psychic resistance.

I dissagree with that... imensly.
Its approrpiate for a tae'dae to not wish to be agressive, but to be strong enough in defense that he survives hits and makes people run a bit in a group.

They will not kill a decent fighter. How is that balanced?

Well, there are skills that are made for team combat.. why can't there be a race?
Maybe replace Bearhug with "Protect" that lets them take hits for someone, and boost their int a bit?
Then they'd be quite blatantly a race made for team combat, and then you could say they were balanced for their role.
Sylphas2006-07-22 06:11:29
True, but it's a rather large deviation from the other races in any IRE game. I don't really see any way to really balance them as is though, without pretty much just making them one of the other races. *shrug* Whatever works.
Unknown2006-07-22 06:13:04
I'd be happy with them if they were blatantly and clearly made as a "protector" race. The images of Tae painted by the histories show that it would fit really well, and it would solve the balancing issues, because the Admin ccould say flat out "This race is not designed to PK on its own, it is designed to be a tank for others to hide behind in PvP and PvE" and the problem would be solved so long as they could accomplish that task, which they definitely could.
Unknown2006-07-22 06:33:52
Tae'dae aren't quite as invincible as people make out. They're just as vulnerable to instakills as anyone else, are far easier to hinder than others (making them more vulnerable to most instakills), and cannot withstand much magic damage. They're great against mage and knight damage killers and not much else.
