I'd assume they're aiming to eventually reach a point where they can stop tinkering and focus on things like new areas, more backstory, expanding skills, more events, etc.

Yes.. clearly the method of "take everything to an extreme" is getting them much closer to that goal.. because now they won't have anything to tinker with at all.

You know, pointless raiding, has a much larger affect on the game than conflict quests do.

Pointless raiding, affects everyone. Conflict quests, can be ignored by players because they know, its just mechanics to hurt us, and we can do mechanics to undo it, and the mechanics will never kill off the org completely or stop me from doing what I want. However, other players attacking me, will affect what I can and cannot do.

Its the places like the greymoors, where Celestians would defend aslarans, that cause more conflict in my gaming experience, then any amount of spike gathering ever did.

As I asked in the other thread, whats the argument for saying conflict quests work so well? They seem to cause people to have a greater sense of "unfair" treatment, than any amount of raiding and sensless killing does.
Plus, with sensless killing, politics can be used, with conflict quests, all you need is a person who is good at quests, but cares less about the org they work in, to hurt or help an org.

Also, lets deal with the facts here, the quests are not removed, the affects of doing the quest are changed. There is a BIG difference there when it comes to the reality of changing code, and changing what the world looks like.

If the admin were going from One extereme to the other, they would have removed every stage of the quests completely. They could have had a soulless event happen where the quests can completely removed and all the denizens related to the quests get sucked up into the void.

Then they could have said, because the soulless hurt us so much, now all the nations and all the gods see the importance of Elcyrion's message and world peace now exists, because we have to kill soulless being 24/7 since we can't figure out how to make vernals, and the soulless tentacles keep killing all the novices, and then the game would really just be hack and slash.

Yes, and clearly the player's snide comments and ranting is getting them what they want, too, isn't it? Most of these people who work on this game do not get paid. I don't know about you, but if I had a bunch of what I can only describe as whinging brats telling me what to do, I would be more inclined to walk away than spend my time helping them.

I missed it, but I guess based on this latest event, they might be using certain events to create conflict rather than automated quests. This would make the game more dynamic and less of a treadmill.

If that's the strategy, I'm all for it.

I honestly have zero reason to play a game where the admins don't care one whit for what the players think, and only look after their own pocketbooks.

Goodbye.

It's like, okay. We own a gay club. We always play techno and do drag shows with our resident drag queens, and people love the shows, but they want more dance time and less drag show time - but instead we just yank the shows entirely.

Need to work out our own conflicts it seems, a fair way at that too. Difficult, but doable.

I thought Sunshine was a guy to be honest..

Though Im not very good with telling peoples genders seeing as I thought Shorlen was a girl up until I was told he was a he.

Hadn't you noticed the admins get screamed at no matter what they do?

In all the MUDs I've ever been on, I've never known a group of admins to devote so much time and enrgy to hearing the players' side of things and make corrections accordingly.

You don't have to like the changes, or the direction the game is heading. But accusing them of not caring about the players' opinions just because they didn't side with your personal opinions is way, way out of line.
