Alright since I'm working on one myself (thanks to the thread Cartels over the the Idiots section or giving m the idea and telling me that I could )
Item: Sword type: Swords Org: -
Commidities:15 steel, 15 silver, 2 ruby
Important: The main noun of this item MUST include the word: sword
Appearance: A horseman's sword
Dropped: An Equine carved long sword has been dropped here.
Examined: The blade is clearly a horsemans sword, the hilt carved into the likeness of a horses head in silver, the handle in a curving fashion coming from base of the head. The head faces toward the sharpened side of the blade, the rubies that act as its eyes, softly emanating red light, as if the horse was alive. The blade is darkened steel, lengthened for fighting on horseback, and is laced with lines of silver.
So what's people think?

It could use some more fanciness. Imagery, people, Imagery! I also added in some swordly terminology. Apart from that, it's very good.
EDIT: I would make there be less silver than steel.

How do you know it's a horseman's sword? It just has horses on it. Maybe it belongs to someone who likes horses? A bestiality enthusiast?

Beside's the fact that you have been misplacing apostrophe's, theres something intrinsically wrong with that sentence that I can't quite put my finger on - Better to break it down in two.

If this is lengthened for horseback, it should be a broadsword or some similar one-hander, not a longsword.Unknown2006-07-24 14:14:42
Actually, in your edits you added the word of I used microsoft-word for grammer editing and it took that word out (I had it in there before) thanks for the help lets put in the extra edited version without the crossed out sections.

Verithax: Horsemen's swords were longer and the blade was on a single side historically. Why? Say clothesline the infanty!
Any more thoughts?

You left the words "handle" and "hilt" in there...
Also, NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE MS WORD FOR GRAMMAR CHECKING! *cough*
EDIT: Also, see Wikipedia's Sword page for all your terminology needs

Which bit? I wasn't quite sure which parts of the hilt you meant by handle and hilt. I might have got that wrong in my editing
Unknown2006-07-24 14:24:47
I meant: crossguard and grip you had: pommel and grip
the blade comes out from the top of the horses head

Uh oh. Broadsword are double-edged, and therefore do not have a specific "true edge."

Ummm... A Sabre? A Scimitar? I don't have Forging, so I don't know what comes under the area of each skill.
Unknown2006-07-24 14:29:52
But a long scimitar would be so curved... and sabres aren't the straightest either...
Maybe i should add a type just for it

As far as I know, there's no such thing a sword that's straight and single-edged. There wasn't much point. If you were only ginna swing it one way, might as well make that way more streamlined. i.e. curve it.
Unknown2006-07-24 14:33:08
a Cutlass... but thier short... it could be a greatsword!
edit: 2 sides Doh!
Edit: the original knights in England used the sort of sword I'm trying to get here, but then they made them shorter, because Knights started using lances and shortswords.
I found a type! Mortuary Sword (from your site there)... but its not one of the listed types in Lusty...

EDIT: Hmm. You could try submitting it to see what they say. Does it have an actual list in the AB of what sword you can and can't use?
Oh, and Wikipedia is not a site all about swords. It's just a very VERY detailed and expansive online encyclopedia. Where the "Sword" was in my link, just put whatever you want to know about. Using just One or two words works best.

Now then... how to change it.... have the horse head facing away from the wielder? That'd give the same effect, no?
Unknown2006-07-24 14:51:09
That wouldn't work so well. Wether or not it faces the wielder would depend on which hand they hold it in, how they hold it, and what peice of swordplay they are executing. And anyway, if it's going to be a one-edged sword, the sharp side is still called the true edge, wether or not the blade is curved.

Ain't I great?
