Alright, so I'm looking for some good reading, and I was wondering what you scifi and fantasy gurus would suggest. (English only please)
Things I've liked:
Any Douglas Adams (Hitchhikers Guide, Last on Earth (something like that) etc.)
Orson Scott Card (Enders series (the WHOLE thing shadow and regular))
That book with Magnus and the AI.. Can't remember the name of it.
LOTR
Gee, I can't remember any of the books I've read, anyway, yeah, post good books/series to read! hoorah!

George RR Martin - A Game of Thrones, a clash of kings, a storm of swords, a feast for crows. Long, but amazing.

"Dune" by Frank Herbert. You must read this or suffer knowing your life was never quite complete.

Seconded.
Also, the prequels - House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and House Corrino.

Vectors, Michael Phillip Kube-McDowell
The Time Traveller's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger
Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Charles Sheffield
As you can see, I'm a sucker for sci-fi romance.

The prequels written by his son were nothing special. There was also the "Butlerian Jihad" and the other prequels written by his son... the names escape me
Hazar2006-07-25 02:42:38
I liked the prequels because they avoided some of the sweeping metaplot, which sometimes struck me as overdone in the third and fourth books, and includes much more of the politics.
And yes, he did 'Butlerian Jihad', 'The Machine Crusade', and 'Battle of (or at, can't remember) Corrin'. Focuses mostly on character development in those.
