Beats a 12 hour drive every day
Vix2006-08-11 03:04:59
Yeah, all of our universities are spread way apart. Upside-down-land's are all centered along the east coast I presume?
Okin2006-08-11 03:11:02
Ohhh... well, that kinda makes more sense. Yeah, there aren't that many people who don't live in a capital city here, and we only have eight states. People from out back move to a city to go to uni, but certainly don't live IN the uni.
I'm in Adelaide, South Australia meself, which is in the middle at the bottom. Most of the population is on the East Coast, though, yes.
Adelaide has a pop. of about 1mil. We have three universities... does that seem like a lot?

No, pretty sure Toronto matches that. Not to mention the 10 or so others we have around the Province.

I have you people beat on High schools...Las Vegas builds like 5 new high schools a year, or something very close to it. Got quite a few here, but then again Las Vegas is three cities combined.

Now this makes me wonder where you go to school....
Vix2006-08-11 12:35:47
Going to school..... now.

Unknown2006-08-11 15:09:00
I remember starting after Labor Day. Now we start before, and we don't get out any earlier. Hell, I think we get out later.
I start... *checks calender* the 30th.

I'm going to Cheyenne, Jasper.
Marius2006-08-12 01:10:45
I'm moving into the UNLV dorms around the 23rd. It's nice to see another Las Vegan. Two, rather.

Hrm... Cheyenne. Cheyenne. Oh! I remember that one.
To be honest, I never seen the school - I always stayed near the Shadow Ridge/Centinnial area.
Unknown2006-08-12 01:37:09
Heh, its kind of reversed for me, Cheyenne's like 5 mins away from my house.
Okin2006-08-12 14:41:14
I just had a thought. As an alternative to driving 12 hours a day to uni (which evidently doesn't make sense), or moving to your campus, why not just go to a uni closer to where you live? If 3 uni's in my small town isn't much, surely there's a uni close enough to commute to for almost everyone?
Diamondais2006-08-12 14:50:12
It depends on the programs and the expectations of the Uni's. If the Uni doesnt offer the programs youre interested in, or doesn't boast a good program in comparison to that school youre most likely going to try for the one thats better. Also, these schools tend to have higher expectations and are harder to get in to and require a lot more work than one that doesnt have the bigger program.
Vix2006-08-13 01:14:01
Plus the fact that the schools near me suck.

OMG! ME TOO!
Unknown2006-08-13 03:30:32
Yes, and I'll be turning 16 at the beginning of the 2nd quarter/end of the 1st quarter. :S I hope that I'm not forced to take drivers ed....driving scares me...
Diamondais2006-08-13 03:38:04
Force? Shouldnt have to if you dont want to, driving isnt mandatory. May sound sad but I dont have my liscence yet, I have no car and no need for it.
Unknown2006-08-13 05:28:11
I've never really thought about it, but it's certainly convenient to live in a country where it's possible to drive from one end to the other in an hour, give or take a bit.
