OI! I didn't notice that!
Maybe I should delete that first post.
Not again! *scold*

Yeah, that's a bit annoying, since Merians and Elfens are banned from power in Magnagora. Guess we'll just have to keep an eye on them.
Yep, time for the bitchmistress of Mag to stand there putting holes in folks that ain't sposed to draw
Rauros2006-07-30 16:42:14
Convenience at the cost of RP.
Daganev2006-07-30 16:45:08
Dross means sludge.
Getting Dross power is like eating food out of garbage cans when your banned from the resturaunts.
Having 0 power is like starving.
The RP is perfectly fine I think.

I disapprove of this It basically means that everyone has unlimited power, if they consider their max power to be 40. Well, it certainly gives me more of a reason to use power, I guess.

except for the fact that top tier fighters will go through 40 power in a matter of minutes. And once the bug is fixed so that you can only draw a total of 15% dross per month, its only going to be used heavily by lowbies.. which is what its meant for.
Unknown2006-07-30 16:49:00
hey, that's good 30 (15%) power without the loss of power from the Nexus itself

Assuming that is a bug.
Daganev2006-07-30 16:50:14
The announce post clearly states its a bug.
Unknown2006-07-30 16:50:26
This might be their way of encouraging the use of power skills when not letting the Nexi get too full.
If I were to guess, I’d say we might be seeing additional limits in power in the future, might be a way to revitalize action though need, and at the same time providing an 'out' should that need become critical.

Well, the announce says that you're only supposed to be able to draw 15% per month.. so I'd assume it is.

Personally, I think its a means to not make new players unable to enjoy the game.
Callus2006-07-30 17:50:28
How can new players even really enjoy the game (in the sense of using power)? -Really- new players don't even know about power, usually the only thing they need it for is Teleporting to other people, and that's rare too...
I like it, but I think there will be further upgrades or limitations to the system. It's too good to be true now.
(If this continues, and everyone just draws dross power (except the rare few expert fighters), all Nexi will reach 2 million power like -that-.)

Daganev, you can get by perfectly fine in Novicehood without power. There are incredibly few novice skills that need it, and none of them are even all the useful while a novice.
This also means that powerblocking is almost completely useless except against hardcore fighters.

Not every new charachter is a new player.
There are plenty of skills outside of guildskills that use power.

Sylphas2006-07-30 18:05:05
That a novice should/would have? Teleport. And Teleport Nexus is free. And some in Low/High(I assume)Magic. Orange is an utter waste of power at that point in your life, really. Food is easy to get, and people will feed you for free if you're starving. Green is maybe useful if you run into a statue or something. Players that are trying will kill you anyway, and using it to bash is stupid.
Daganev2006-07-30 18:10:06
Sylphas, why does every charachter have to fit to your standards of what they want to do?
There is aethersight, winter, aetherships.
I don't think powerblocking was ever intented to be used on everyone. Estarra mentioned that she was surprised people did that. It makes sense, and would make city logs much nicer, if people only powerblocked those who were doing something wrong, intead of unpowerblocking people who did something right.

Powerblocking those who do wrong is next to useless now, which is really my only problem with this. Have it so novices can only draw dross, and make powerblocking totally block someone out, and I'd be very happy.
And I'm talking NOVICES. In Serenwilde, at least, they're the only ones automatically powerblocked. Novices will not have Winter, or Aethersight, or Aetherships. If they do, they're a very, very small minority, and most definitely not a new player.

I'd like to see a merian Geomancer kick ass.
Merians' Intelligence + astrology spheres + Blessing of Knowledge + Geo Staff = ownage.
Amusing...
