Back to Common Grounds.

Depends if we're talking about curing or getting out. Yeah, 1.7 sec if you just need to escape. 2 sec for the whole thing if it all goes perfectly.

I dont see the point of any city players complaining about the changes. Its a hell of a lot better for you guys to raid now. Its a good change no matter which way youre looking from. Yeah sure, raiding is going to be a bit more frequent now but were not all weaklings, we can defend ourselves. We now have to work at our defences, we have almost the exact setup as Cosmic except for the Archways and the one single totem.

I havent had a chance to explore Ethereal because of current events in the game but from what little Ive gotten to see, what little Im slowly figuring out Im loving the change. Its a wonderful change even if its taking away the conflict quest, or heading in that direction in consideration to what has happened with Ethereal before. So stop complaining and actually see what a good change this is to everyone.

Zenji thrusts his palm towards an ethereal stag and a burst of silver light
shoots out from it and burns into an ethereal stag, who cries out in pain.
Zenji has scored a CRUSHING CRITICAL hit.
A frown on an ethereal stag's face suddenly changes to horror as his skin begins
to glow with an inner silver light. Moonlight erupts from the pores of his skin
as he tries to scream but is instead consumed by the power of the moon.
An ethereal stag has been slain by Zenji.
A bit of silvery essence tumbles out of the corpse of an ethereal stag.

I got a bit confused by this, are the mobs in faethorn or in etherseren?

I thought I saw an opposum running around faethorn.
Diamondais2006-07-31 15:11:11
Once the Fae leave they leave a creature that can be hunted for essence. It requires effort on our part to bring the Fae to the Ethers but we get a rewards afterwards. And the Stags are just beautifully described. Want to see what EtherGlom gets.

So just the Etherwilde and Etherglom as the Fae are leaving those places and leaving something in their place.

edit: At least thats what I understood and have seen so far from the post. Meh.

There were a few bugs that we were frantically working to fix when we made the ethereal change. There shouldn't have been opossums running around Faethorn.

Hmm, what happened to all the 'end of the world' posts that we were expecting after the responses we got to the Faethorn Summit? dry.gif

You all made a really wonderfully cool and interesting change?

I think we're all happy about the fact that you're finally working on balancing Ethereal with Cosmic.

Just allow demesnes to be made there and we'll pretty much have balance!

We knew it was coming. tongue.gif

All in all, though, I do like your solution--guarding (and taking) the little fae is less of a priority. It makes the cosmic setup more feasible. I'm sure the other details will be nice too. If not, well...we can delay fire and brimstone preaching for a week, can't we?
Unknown2006-07-31 16:08:11
I must say that I am pleased...You found a way to give us virtually everything that we asked for. And the decrease in passive power from Drums (yeah, I know that wasn't really a Faethorn change but it was very recent) and fae has been successfully (I think) balanced by the creation of dross power and the fae-reward of critters that can be hunted for essence. Hooray!

Now I'm interested to see what's going to end up being done with the Song quest. happy.gif
Shiri2006-07-31 16:09:20
Pretty sure the drums' power didn't decrease, it was always this low. The number of things in the Flame just got curtailed.

Didn't it? The announce post confused me. And I wasn't logged on that much that week, so by the time I got on and saw the change, I couldn't go back to the older logs to compare the power input from the drums. Maybe someone who's more familiar with it can explain to me?
Shiri2006-07-31 16:18:09
Well...I'm 99% sure that we only got 500 power per weave from the Flame of Glinshari, despite the bazillion miniflames in it, and that that just got chomped down to 5000 flames to reflect that.

I guess the drums are the same.

Also I'm tired so I might be wrong altogether, but yea. ninja.gif
Vix2006-07-31 16:27:29
Used to get 1000 power per weave from the Drums/Flames.

Well, I'm still severely disappointed that the Lusternia website lied to us, and that we're playing a hack 'n slash game when I thought we were playing a dramatic roleplaying epic, and that any feel of being able to effect lasting change on the game world itself (and not the socio-political structure) is being removed in favour of World of Warcraft-like stasis. However, I've done enough bitching about it already, and saw no need to continue until you posted this.
Daganev2006-07-31 17:54:05
You have a very different definition of hack and slash than I do...

The only mechanically coded method of conflict is attacking with weapons and spells. That's hack 'n slash, by my definition.
Daganev2006-07-31 18:00:28
So an election is not a form of conflict? Having the best designs in a cartel is not a method of conflict? Collecting power is not a method of conflict? Releaseing orcs into villages is not a method of conflict? Controling a village and a commodity market is not a method of conflict? Raising a lady who drains the power of the people in her area is not a method of conflict?

Hack and slash normally means, that Killing mobs and going on the level treadmill is the only thing you can do in the game.
Shayle2006-07-31 18:04:02
So far, so good. The changes are interesting, and I think it's nice to be forced to change strategy (again! tongue.gif --just kidding, we <3 you!

Wonderful work so far. Thank you for the huge amounts of time/effort going into this! wub.gif
Daganev2006-07-31 18:19:13
My only complaint is that the creatures that drop essence don't leave corpses.
Sylphas2006-07-31 19:30:10
I could have sworn I replied to this, but I don't see it.

You have to remember that Ethereal is both Cosmic and Elemental for us. If you make it entirely like Cosmic, that's fine, but it won't be balanced. Seren and Glomdoring share the Ethereal, and even then it's not ours in the way that the cities control the Elementals, it's Maeve's.
