I snagged a neutral one the other day Shiri; says something along the lines of "Well, I guess I can leave Faethorn if Mother Night really wants me to."
I refuse to take a Moon Fae (and before anyone starts flaming, that Fae last night said "Whoahmg Night!" When I greeted it. It apparently changed its mind halfway through when Kalodan walked in. Tricksy, tricksy fae, we hates them precious!)

But shhh, don't tell Shayle I took a neutral one!

Yes..shhhh! Don't tell Sha...hey, wait a second. tongue.gif
Shiri2006-08-01 13:59:01
Yeah, I've been noticing that not only do they repop at a speed that makes them impossible to protect (oh well) but they actually change their minds AS YOU'RE INFLUENCING THEM too. dry.gif
Unknown2006-08-01 14:02:27
That's simple, you're obviously not shayle, you've just got the impersonate skill. tongue.gif

Yes, which makes "protecting them" dubious at best. It's fine. It's fun, provided we don't end up back in the days where gathering fae involved a five hour battle. Seren's demesning is moving us slowly back there! Don't do it! Use debate or whatever, but please don't force us back to the constant, BORING, Faethorn stalemates.

Sorry, conflict quests were removed from Lusternia. We were told to find our own ways of starting conflict, and so some of us have taken the "kill everyone" stance. We can't sway Faethorn mechanically anymore, so at least this way, we can say we hold sway over it.

Welcome to the text-based first person shooter called Lusternia. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Spiteful much? Like I've said--way to take new changes and turn them into the same old crap. rolleyes.gif

Lusternia isn't supposed to be all cakes and flowers, dear. rolleyes.gif

Wow, I really don't understand that mindset, Shorlen. The changes have given us a lot of options compared to what we used to have. Before: a single person can waltz in and clean out Faethorn, gathering fae is just a matter of who can squint around more often. After: it's entirely in our hands as to how we control that territory - whether we compete for influencing fae faster, whether we attempt to disrupt each others' influencing, whether we attack each other, and who we attack and for what reason. Stealing fae who want to go to the other side is no longer as simple as slipping one a honeycake while no one's looking. You now have to take the time to influence, much increasing the risk you'll be caught redhanded. This also introduces an element of strategy. Serenwilde and Glomdoring influence the fae in very different ways, strengthening the ideological differences in RP that Seren players were complaining were lacking.

I guess increased complexity is a sign that Lusternia's becoming a "first person shooter." I'm staggered by the fact that people will complain about any change. Also, do try not to take your frustrations out on people who've got nothing to do with it, which is pretty much what your previous post declared.

Yes, and it's not supposed to be the same old thing all the time either.

As dear Nirrti has pointed out, there are a TON of new options, but I suppose when one is feeling personally slighted by the oppressive Admins...why not be a jerk for the hell of it?

Shorlen, the game isn't just about you and your wants. If you really dislike the changes, you could always just quit, like you threatened to before, during your last tantrum.

Or you can just take the "kill everyone" stance because you haven't gotten your way. And we can all try and figure out why you want to be taken seriously.
Sylphas2006-08-01 15:20:29
I usually agree with you Shorlen, but not on Faethorn. I actually like it, which I wasn't expecting when everyone was all "OMGCOSMIC!!11".
Shorlen2006-08-01 15:22:33
I'm playing the game as it was designed to be played. We were told to find ways of creating conflict ourselves. Guess what! We do! And what happens? Whining. We have all these lovely, interesting skills the Divine spent so much time designing. 95% of them are *gasp* COMBAT related. What happens when we use them? Whining. They made an entire debating system which was intended to be a way to "attack" without griefing, and to fight without anyone losing experience or anything. What happens every time I try to debate Shayle for one reason or another? Yep. Whining.

The Divine made us a wonderful new Shrine system. We put up a WAR SHRINE in CONTESTED territory, and god forbid, use one of the nifty new shrine skills they gave us, and what do we get? Yep. Whining.

Stop bitching and enjoy the game. That's what people told me to do, and eventually I did. So now, that is what I tell you to do. If you do or not is up to you.

I like the changes too, but I think the violence that got sparked up there again is basically inevitable. (Especially when Glomdoring starts, from our PoV, kidnapping Fae again. Not just Natarm either, was quite a few.) So in that respect it's probably going to be pretty depressing for the people that don't like that. (I hate getting interrupted from other things by people starting fights in Faethorn and Celest "attacking" us, but whatever, I'll deal with it.)

EDIT: And stop being so aggro.

I killed Natarm because he was seen taking Fae that wanted to stay in Faethorn. I killed Borca because he was defiling shrines to Lord Charune.

Oh noes! Doing things for RP reasons! I'd better stop and go back to pointless posturing and arguing about the definition of "violence!"

Sorry, it's my natural reaction to people who speak condescending to me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The funniest thing about all this (in my eyes) is that it started because Shamarah was randomly attacking Serenwilders in Faethorn, and I set up my demesne to defend against him. Then I saw Natarm sitting in the demesne, and asked if I should enemy him to my demesne. Someone said we were to kill all Serenwilde enemies in Faethorn, since Glomdoring had started kidnapping all Fae. I didn't really MEAN to make it a battlefield, and Shorlen doesn't even care about Faethorn, just protecting Serenwilders from Celestians.
