If you're looking to be a combatant, then being a rogue is obviously not the best route for you. Otherwise, rogues do pretty well. I had a rogue influencer Tae'dae alt who got up to level 70ish pretty quickly, had about 100k to his name, and the highfavour of Terentia. In about 2 weeks or so, if I remember correctly.

The lack of regular interaction made me stop playing him, though. If you don't mind keeping to yourself some of the time (not all or even most), then being a rogue isn't bad at all.

Ever since the Hunter came Serenwilde has had the containment bit about Glomdoring and Magnagora. Celest its been a difficult situation, even in the early years. Weve been off and on good terms and bad terms. Some Serens love Celest, some despise it with a passion. Dont want to be caught in the middle of the war? Stay around Serenwilde, hawk your wares there.

About favours, hey, I know the feeling. Ive done a few things Ive always thought I should have earned a few favours, then there are some things Ive done where I think it was stupid to favour me. It depends on whose around and what their mindsets are. As you said, not everyone conforms to the pure Seren belief but in times of war a nation needs their people to be with them or theyll not be able to hold up their beliefs as well.

This helps the problem a small bit, but doesn't treat the issue of skills that require specific sources of power.. Almost everything in Druidry requires power from a commune nexus.. Darkseed, totem spirit, and pathtwist require power from the Moonhart nexus. Stagstomp, parade, totem bonding, and such require power from the Moonhart tree (ok, this is reasonable since White Hart is in Serenwilde). At the moment, I can't forestcast.. I can meld, though. So breaking a demesne that's attacking me (which has happened already) isn't an option. Can't use rebirth. At least I can still craft smudges, fetishes, meld, summon a cudgel, paint my face, pathfind, and others... Overall, I'm pretty much defenseless now. Thank goodness for Avechna and grace.

Oh well, at least I can still influence just fine.

It doesn't make sense for rogues to cast terrain, since you're drawing on Ethereal/Elemental for that, and you don't have any connection to them without a nexus. Some of the rest aren't as easily justifiable.

And I have to admit.. That's when Serenwilde started spiraling downward.

I doubt fellow Serens would want to purchase herbs at the regular price when they could get them free or cheaper from other members. Not to mention the whole principle of "freedom" in Serenwilde.. Why trade with just Serens when there are others who want my wares?

But what happens when their beliefs are what cause the war? If I remember correctly, the commune was torn nearly in half over the referendum. I'm probably wrong, but I remember the results of some referendum (not sure if it was the one about angels or not) being about 30 to 50.. maybe it was 40 to 50. Maybe that was for the welcome of either Ixion or Athana.. Oh well. If you're going to start a war, then you should make sure you have the backing of your entire nation before you push the red button.

First off:
THERE WILL BE NO ROGUE NEXUS. If there was a nexus at all, it would inherantly not be rogue - rogue means allied with a major organization: An org with a nexus.
Secondly - Stop whining. You had the skills before you went rogue, you could see that they require power. Unable to defend yourself? Thats part of what makes lusternia lusternia - the deal about rogues. Stop complaining, its your own fault you've suffered the drawbacks.

And, just for the record, I have played as a rogue myself for a very extended period of time. I'm aware how it works, and everything. It was wonderfully enjoyable for me, even though power plex jewels didnt exist, and I had almost no skills.

Though I'm not interested in finding another game, I agree wholeheartedly. It feels like there is an obsession with everyone fitting into "cookie-cutter roles".

Personally, since Karrah doesn't fight or really utilize the privledges of a city and guild, being a rogue doesn't really change anything or affect him. But I notice other fellow rogues are struggling and deserve to be heard like the whiners in cities and communes. Those who whine, bitch, and complain about how the cities, guilds, and skills aren't fair, somehow get heard.

Eventhough Karrah will eventually migrate to Gaudiguch, and will drop the life of a rogue, I still want to make Lusternia a fair and balanced playing environment.
