There is FINALLY a decent Mac MU* client out there!

It's called Atlantis and has Perl scriting, real logs, world catalogs, and all the stuff a good client should.

However, it's still in Beta (v0.9.1) so there are bugs here and there. Including one in which it completely mangles IRE MUds but I've reported it so it should get fixed.

Anyway, Mac Users Rejoice!

Wow, and can I just say I'm seriously impressed with the developer.

Thinking of trying it out with another MUD before he fixes it for IRE games though. The source of my disappointment from all other OS X clients is lack of speed.

Everyone knows the best client for a Mac is a shovel through the moniter. *sagenod*

Thanks for sharing as I will soon need it -skips around- Gettin me a loaded Macbook Pro (the 2.16ghz core duo one). Only thing that sucks is I have to slap an emulator on it to run windows because stupid 3d Studio Max doesn't run on an f'in mac!

So, have any of you tried it? Sparky fixed it up to work with the IRE games.

I've had some trouble when I use look, or when there's a large amount of text like a description all at once, it seems to sort of get stuck halfway. Probably going to post it over to the board, but wanted to see if you guys had that problem too.

Nexus usually crashes with my Mac not sure why. Im using G5 OS10.
Oh well.. I dont know how to script anyway. I swear If I had spent the first year of my mudding time in learning how to script I should have been Uber now. But no...

Yeah. Nexus...really doesn't run well at all on my computer, really slow and choppy.

Nexus seems to work fine for me, but I'm running Java 1.5.0_03 on 10.4.7. Haven't noticed any problems of late. I know with older configurations, 1.4.2_05 and before that it didn't seem to handle the options screen very well. And the font thing has never worked that I've noticed, but it's not too important most of the time.

Nexus is fine for me. Titanium PowerBook G4, 512MB SDRAM, 800MHz, OS X 10.4.7, no idea what my Java version is .

Anyway, I'm trying it out, and it seems pretty good. It's just so... pwetty compared to Savitar/Cantrip/Rapscallion. The latter two were both dead, and infested with bugs >.<

Rapscallion was/is the best client I've ever used on a mac. I couldn't even force myself to use cantrip or savitar for more than just a trial, and let's not even get into mudwalker.

As for nexus, I am on a 1.8 GHz powerPC G5 with 1.25 GB SDRAM, OS X 10.4.7, and the latest java version. I think I'm just spoiled by the speed of rapscallion and TF, but nexus seems to have a slight delay with every command I enter.

Now of course, to figure out how the hell to do anything besides highlights in atlantis.

Rapscallion is only worth using if you have classic on your mac (I don't have OS 9 installed) . You can get the 9 version...

It's not worth running on OS X, it's half-carbonised and very slow. It comes with a tutorial. I never got a chance to fully investigate the scripting possibilities, but you can have variables, aliases, tickers, triggers, etc. I had only begun to try queues out before I got my new computer.
