Fae really aren't very good. All they do is...

-sleep from pixie (use insomnia)
-300ish damage to all stats from banshee
-random affliction from crone/sylph
-dominate from pooka
-if shadowdancer, slight bleeding from redcap
-if shadowdancer, paralysis from barghest if you're stupid enough not to have sixth sense up

Additionally, like all pets, they can be stopped via disloyalty, lover's effect, and by simply killing them.
Unknown2006-08-15 21:42:37
Except that fae afflictions are pathetic no matter what (even shadowdancer ones... well, maybe barghest's paralysis is decent), and knightly afflictions can and will kill. Pooka doesn't really count as an affliction, and if you are half-decent in combat, it cannot screw you up by itself.

EDIT: Ninja'ed by Shamarah.
Diamondais2006-08-15 21:44:00
Sylphs knock people out of the sky.
Genos2006-08-15 22:02:03
I think he meant Slaugh there.

EDIT: Regardless, Fae really do suck compared to the Domination ents in the other games.
Sylphas2006-08-15 22:07:27
Fae are basically mana drain, if you have focus mind. That's it. It's like being hit with passive mana drain every 12 seconds.
Unknown2006-08-15 22:26:46
Wow, if you seriously think fae are powerful, or fae afflictions are powerful, you need to get out of combat now, and never return. Fae by themselves, give a maximum of ONE affliction every 12 seconds. That's it. ONE affliction every 12 seconds. One miscellaneous balance, whether it be elixir, herb, or salve every 12 seconds. Insomnia is a "free" def because it consumes no balances. The banshee damages health/mana for about 300 (not all stats, not ego like Shamhat made it sound). Brownie knocks off balance in the 0.5 to 1 second range. All on a 12 second timer. It doesn't matter if fae continue to hit while they are entangled, because fae shouldn't be doing anything to you other than making a little spam. Disloyalty stops them from attacking and makes them hit the owner as well.

Just by comparison, demesne effects are 10 seconds, four or five times more lethal just by themselves, and hit everyone.
Shamarah2006-08-15 22:37:16
Oh, not ego? I knew it did health/mana so I thought it did ego, never mind then.

And yes, I meant slaugh, not sylph.
Diamondais2006-08-15 22:39:01
Oh okay, sorry about that then.
Shiri2006-08-16 02:54:07
Sylph is kind of too good, but kind of useless on the other hand. It got fixed in the wrong way. :/

Yeah, we were like "This skill is a bit too powerful, could you tone it down?" And old Hajamin was like, "OMG! This has been bugged forever!" and fixes something that renders the skill useless while still being overpowered. And yes, that's possible. It was done.

Nejii and Sarrasri regen my moonburst before I get equilibrium to assess them, more than half the time. sad.gif
Unknown2006-08-16 19:30:21
Some little young Paladin in the FFA took like 9 Moonbursts to go down without sipping. sad.gif
Laysus2006-08-17 21:45:57
my regen ticks for roughly 1/3 of nejii's moonburst.

Sewn from soft cloth, dyed the purest shade of white, these robes flow
freely around the form. Concealing the figure quite adequately, the
material falls in deep folds, ending just below the ankles, with loose
sleeves belling out around the wrists. Attached at the back is a deep
hood, large enough to easily conceal or protect the face. Deep pockets
are hidden in the folds of the robes, allowing the one to hide their
hands within.

It weighs about 3 pounds and 0 ounce(s).

4.14.16 The Taurian Race
STATISTICS:
Strength : 15 Dexterity : 12 Constitution: 16
Intelligence: 10 Charisma : 10 Size : 15

So like, a 10 int race does like 800 damage to me with a symbol, with 10% proofs and gifted Magic? I don't think that's bad.
Verithrax2006-08-24 11:22:11
But he's Amaru. He gets a +1700 bastard bonus to all damage he causes. When you subtract that, you realize that a Symbol attack from a Taurian actually heals you for 900 health!

Lover's effect doesn't stop Faes as far as I know, only stops the owner from attacking. Disloyalty is good but for a non-Druid/Mage this is nearly impossible to afflict anyone with, let alone stick. Killing them is therefore the only real viable option.

Faes aren't hard to deal with at all, and they die easily. The only one that might be annoying as hell is the Pooka when the Dancer decides to be lame (i.e. emptying vial, Focus Spirit).

Because Furrikins are known for pure Magic damage with their grossly high Int and that Moondancers aren't the best Magic-resistant archetype around?
Laysus2006-08-24 17:34:19
Shh.
Shamarah2006-08-24 21:06:29
Lover's effect does stop ents from attacking.
Unknown2006-08-24 22:15:51
I also doubt he was down at 10 int, Amaru most likely had some boosts to that.
