I love how people randomly get picked to represent the entire nation of Celest. When do I get to be Celest? sad.gif

qft and funniness and witty sarcasm! Yay!

I want to be serenwilde one day. so we can be noncombatants for a little while.

Are you sure about that? I am quite confident that I have attempted to flow to someone in a greater pentagram (quite a while ago) and been prevented. Has that changed?

If not, it would seem to me that moonbeam is more akin to flow than teleport.

Perhaps you were in an adjacent room to them. Magical transport works funny when you're in an adjacent room - walls stop it and I believe greatpent does too. If you moved another room away, it would have gone through.

Yeah, this happened to me a couple times. If you're in the next room it treats it as if you tried to walk. Don't you remember having this issue with icewalls in Etherglom back when they couldn't put guards there, Elryn?

Ah, ok.

But then Serenwilde would still be a huge threat...

Yes, it really is interesting that Celest is complaining about something they've just found out. Maybe they should have tried raising this fact before they knew about it, or considered it was possible.
You can't complain about something before you realise it's possible, Ashteru. smile.gif

Oh, it was pointed out quite often in earlier threads, by Magnagorans, but of course Celest was all "No, don't take our spies ability to moonbeam to souls so we can still rezz them away!"
Sylphas2006-08-16 15:03:10
Since Moonbeaming to the pent holder pretty much renders it worthless, why not have greaterpent stop it? It'll still be useful on monos normally, and other magic transport will still get through greaterpent.

Just make shadows released prevent moonbeam (shadows prevent the beam from entering), and being indoors prevent moonbeam (moonbeams can't travel through a roof).

Soll, I can't believe you said this.... If I recall correctly Narsrim was pinned down in a room with a greater pentagram, no Celest could get to his soul to rezz him. (Which of course if we had rezz all of a sudden I am sure that would be a topic all to itself) Malicia piggybacked on someone via moonbeam and sacrificed for him as soon as she entered... She died, Narsrim grabbed her corpse and took off.

This is nothing Celest just found out about. This is something that used to be used by Celest often. It just seems that when you all don't have the advantage of someone elses skills they suddenly become OP.

Nejii-bot if someone says here that this didn't happen, would you be so kind as to pull a link to that forum thread a few months back... (It was right after the force praying of Athana)

I can personally guarantee that it took much longer than 6 seconds to beam in, considering I'm the one who did it.

There are/is ways (way) to stop moonbeam, and they're not difficult to do.

No, there aren't, apart from moving.
Sylphas2006-08-16 18:13:43
6 base, 12 if there is a monolith.
Marcalo2006-08-16 18:25:06
less celest forum whining, and more raising your supernals mag is having fun slapping them down often.

and if it is a bug, bug it, or issue it, dont bring it to the forums cripes how many times do the admins have to say if you think somthing is a bugged bug it, don't come to the forums and expose a bug so people can expliot it till its fixed.

This is not, to my knowledge, a bug.

Must be a game feature then! Oh noes! we aren't ment to stand on the cosmic planes waiting for people to get bored and drop greater pents? whatever shall we do, we shall have to raid and defend now instead of standing waiting for pents to go down!! On noes!!! roflmao.gif

Oh, and for clarification, if you droped the monolith after the moonbeam was started it would only take 6, if you droped it before it started it should be 12.

Shadows are already annoying, and prevent you from doing things like flowing/other mystic travel -out- of them, they keep people in rather then keep people out, it's a jumping tool, not a room defence.

*chin* Curious, has anyone tried the tracking skills and what prevents them? monolith/pent? do they prevent the finding/summoning skills?

Wrong.

That's a completely different skill that requires having shadows already released, but uses extra power and time on top of it. (That's why you leave when you see someone release shadows.) happy.gif

I dislike greaterpent period. No skill that prevents all entry into a room should last forever and be impossible to circumvent (with the exception of a specific guildskill).

I don't know exactly how it works, but from what I understand, one possible "fix" to greatpent, maybe, could be that it counts as aggressive if it doesn't already (causes you to drop pentagram), and prevents you from pentagraming (since you're holding up a greater pentagram), and dropped if you do anything that would drop a normal pentagram (aggressive actions, moving). Also preventing you from using salt, of course dry.gif

EDIT: In other words, making the caster able to be killed by ranged attacks to disable the pentagram.
Ildaudid2006-08-16 20:00:33
Ranged attacks go through pentagram already, from what I remember with staff blasts hitting us last night
Sylphas2006-08-16 20:12:14
But if they can hold greaterpent and pentagram at the same time, they're immune to ranged attacks.
Athana2006-08-16 20:14:57
Everything has it's weaknesses just like with serpent where psionics works through it
