I think the afflictions you get from dramatics should:

A) Go away after a certain amount of time, 5 minutes?
cool.gif GO away when you DIE. (Havent tested this)
C) Go away when you get ego shattered.
D) Go away when you Log out.

A, C and D I am currently living test proof of not something currently working.

I don't think normal afflictions go away when you log out.

Have you tried using some enchantment to cure them? I heard that was how you get rid of them. Or you could ask a stag user to help, presumably.
Unknown2006-08-18 03:14:27
Enemied to Cities. How does everyone else have the enchant? Haha, what am Iiiiii missing.

Agreed.

Get 50% Master in dramatics, problem solved. (lets you cure and afflict all three)

I would have no problem with them going away when you -die- but I bet they do anyway.

As for being shattered, why should a further breakdown of your emotional state help cure your other breakdown's and uncertainties?
Everiine2006-08-18 04:03:14
They shouldn't go away when you logout, nothing else does that's happened to me...
Reiha2006-08-18 04:07:16
If it doesn't do it for B, death should be a goddamn cure. Death cures like everything.

Don't agree with a time out, because acquiring/purchasing a focus enchant will get rid of that. There are people willing to do it for a price.

As for log out...pretty sure afflictions in general stay with you until you cure them, and if I can have an ego burnout and have it shattered, no reason for not having dramatic afflictions as well.

Heh, they don't...

even if you log out multiple times...

over the course of weeks...

Zenji had a partially damaged head for almost a month real-time, quite awhile back in the day. blush.gif

Can dramatics afflictions be given in peaced places? If they can, yeah they should go away after a time.

Eh, that's what I was saying though - even if you log out, they're still with you.

And if they go away after a certain period of time, we wouldn't really need the Focus enchantment. Unless it was a very long period of time.
Athalas2006-08-18 04:25:45
Maybe around twice the time it takes to recover after being shattered? That way they'd still be usefull and worth curing pretty fast, but wouldn't FORCE you to use enchants on it.
Shorlen2006-08-18 04:31:20
Basically, as it stands, they'll NEVER go away on novices and the like. I really think that's a problem, always having them there in your diag too. They should go away when shattered, if not at any other time.
Tsuki2006-08-18 06:34:55
When they first came out, I tested. Y'can't bedevil the Dramatics afflictions away. sad.gif

Would be kinda interesting if Healers had a way of drawing afflictions into themselves, if someone had something they couldn't cure (such as the Dramatics ones). It'd be more of a utility, clean-up-after-the-fact thing more than a save-someone-in-the-middle-of-things thing. I like utility.

Shorlen's point is a pretty good one. Not sure if they're really that debilitating, but if I was a newbie who found myself with three pratically-permanent afflictions from Dramatics I'd probably get a bit frustrated with that status.
Unknown2006-08-18 08:26:28
Dying didn't cure them. Personally experienced this.

They do go away after a very long time though.
How long? I'm not too sure, as right now I'm afflict-free without using those enchantments, but I didn't compulsively check, so I can't tell how long it takes for it to wear off.
Ashteru2006-08-18 09:34:40
I am not sure. I had those afflictions through death, and 3 OOC days before I just said screw it and got an enchant.
Sylphas2006-08-18 20:48:49
Death and being shattered should cure them. For newbies, there's little point in curing them, people are going to shatter someone with 1k or less ego with or without them.

And about shattering not curing emotional insecurities, that's not what debating afflictions are, they're distracting you into debating badly, which has nothing to do with ego. They use mana to afflict, not ego like a debate or influence.
Unknown2006-08-18 20:55:47
Dieing should cure them, you should be able to sacrifice them off of others, trueheal them away, and bedevil them.

It looks to me like all of that was an oversight.

They cost both mana and ego.

Its about 5 days... and in real life days its so anoying because I cant get enchantments.

Hey! I had about 3k ego when I was a freshman-novice not realy a newbie but still but then again I was about circle 54 when I graduated. laugh.gif
Sylphas2006-08-18 22:34:02
Do they? I whored them pretty hard in Dairuchi and only had to sip mana if I wasn't being debated. If they take ego, Beauty covers it enough that it's not noticable.
