It's either lawyer or game developer for me - and since I live in a puny, pathetic country (Croatia - look it up), the latter option is, well... not really an option.
*sigh*
I'm just too lazy to really do anything useful, I have no passions. Well, except games, but like I said - that's out of the question.
Who knows - maybe I'll inherit billions of money from my long-lost uncle who loves me rly rly much and be able to stay a carefree jock for the rest of my life.

You did not see that.

Iridiel2006-08-23 09:34:26
Starbuck is great, provided you're just looking for some sweet stuff tasting a bit of coffee (not mandatory) and not real coffee.
Caramel Frapuccinos for example.

Librarian.
And, after sending in my application back on June 22nd I just today got a call that I can have an interview next week. For the possibility of working in the State Library of Pennsylvania!
I'm so incredibly nervous/hopeful right now. And have many things to do to prepare. Wish me luck!

Woot! That would be awesome, you'd literally work right down the street from me. And get to deal with all the geneology people we send over who want random records and crap that we don't have.
The rare book room at the State Library makes me happy. We were apparently the last group to see it before it gets moved to the new vault instead of the terribly bad random room they have them all in now.
Oh, and if you couldn't tell from all that, I too am aspiring to be a librarian, currently working circulation at the Harrisburg Downtown branch of the county library system.

Went for an interview yesterday, and got a tour as well. Including parts closed to the public. Didn't get to see everything though, partly because of construction. That was the first time I've actually been in Harrisburg (not just driving through) and it was so nice. The Capitol Complex (or Capitol Park, at least (which has squirrels! )) has some beautiful, impressive buildings. Having been in (parts of, at least) Philly, Harrisburg and Pittsburg, I've preferred the latter two over the first.
Think the interview went fairly well, neither exceptionally nor too badly. I was terribly nervous and hadn't been able to sleep well the night before, but I don't think the nerves showed too much and I was much too keyed up to be tired, much less act tired (thankfully). And the people I spoke with and who interviewed me were incredibly nice.
Being as it's civil service, though, they said they do have to consider a certain number of people for each position. Might not hear anything, even if it'd be favorable, until the end of September. That's not bad, though, considering it was about two months from when I applied to when I heard I could come in for an interview. Now I'm just back to being hopeful.
And, I wouldn't be meeting the genealogy-searchers ... the position's as a cataloger!

My sister goes to Smith College where they have huge gray squirrels that'll run after you, if you approach them.

My undergrad, Lycoming, has a great number of large squirrels as well. Brown, not gray, though.
Sylphas2006-08-27 02:16:05
During our staff retreat wandering Harrisburg, I counted eleven squirrels playing around the capitol, and that was just on the one lawn.
Good luck Tsuki!!!
Although you are applying to be my nemesis. Catalogers are evil evil beings.

Psh, where's the love?
Catalogers are wonderful. Without catalogers and catalogs, you personally would need to know everything about every item in your collection -- such as what it is, who it's by, the content, and where it is in the library. The Berks County Public Libraries' union catalog has over 600,000 items ... my local public library (part of that, and fairly small) has over 14,000. Don't quite think many are up to memorizing even all 14,000, much less larger collections.
*cough* I'll stop now before I lecture too much. Thanks for the good luck wishes!
Sylphas2006-08-27 04:31:43
Yeah, but subject searches are horrendous. Maybe it's just our collection management department, but most of the time it's easier to just browse the shelves to find something then it is to try searching by subject.

I want to become a librarian. Not sure what type of library yet, and I might want to focus more on research. I'm starting college tomorrow (*stress*) and I'm going to be majoring in history and minoring in computer science. I might go for a double major, but I'm not sure yet.
