I still remember when you teased me for mixing up intelligence and intellect.
Vix2006-08-29 23:25:55
Hehe. Coincidence you have lightning runes?
Unknown2006-08-29 23:29:36
I think not! I forgot my favorite aeon. I <3 ixion. He's the smex. And Adima(sp?).

You're welcome!

Y'know...random side-comment on mythological Ixion...why exactly is Zeus mad that Ixion secretly wanted to sleep with Hera? I mean, you'd think the Lord of Creation would want people to think he had a good-looking wife, geeze.
Vix2006-08-30 01:03:40
He's not really the Lord of Creation, but yes, it's ironic considering how many times Zeus cheated on Hera.

Didnt want anyone touching his woman.

But I couldn't find anything saying Ixion actually did, only that he wanted to. Thus more proof that Zeus is a testosterone-laden asshole, even if he occasionally has good intentions.
(I'm finding arguing about mythical Ixion much more relaxing than arguing about the lusternian Ixion, don't know about the rest of you.)

Pssh. Fine. I was trying to hijack.
Athana2006-08-30 03:04:24
Psh they let him keep Ixion but I couldn't choose Athena!
Terenas2006-08-30 03:34:18
Athena is well-knowned. Ixion isn't that well-known except by Greek Myth or FF geeks.

You mean Ash the Pokemon character right? Because I don't see Ashteru as ever having any good intentions.

Meh.
I know it's a bit late on in the topic, but kudos has to be given to Ixion et al for their determination.
1) They've learnt enough code in their respective client to not only be able to actually write a curing system, but they've made a superb one, and it's well tuned.
2) They've sat down and worked out what they need to be good at whatever it is they want to do and they've done it. I remember asking Ix about swords at one point, and it apparently took about 1200 forges to get weapons he was happy with. That's a LOT of time for those unfamiliar with forging.
3) They've invested money and time in the game. It's probably not money that they just have to burn, either, and time is a fairly precious commodity as well.
Basically, the really top end fighters, merchants, etc, etc, are going to be the people who really want to be in that spot and are going to push to get there. To say 'But he's beating me, and I don't have a chance, that's not fair' is all well and good, but it's like playing golf every second weekend and complaining because you can't outplay Tiger Woods. Fair enough, grizzle about it, but in the end the reason why this is happening is obvious.
And FYI, having been all druid-type for ages and hating knights of all forms, I now hate druids. Go figure.

There is one problem with your use of Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods' skill does not come from special golf clubs. You can purchase the exact same clubs and not be as good as Tiger Woods.
I would put forth that if a mediocre fighter acquired Ixion's same weapons and was also a titan in the same guild, he would do just as well as Ixion. I’ve fought Ixion enough to know what his raw skill is compared to others I have gone up against. He is not at the bottom of my personal list of skilled warriors, but he is also not at the top either.
