Right, forgot about how you can buy godmode in this game.

Last time I checked, Daevos, Ixion, Geb, Athana, Ialie, Elryn, Raizan, etc. and myself have died. If I purchased godmode, I want a refund wink.gif

Am I the only one with a cubix that doesn't fight?

No quest item is going to hinder my $600 cubix. I'm sorry, that's just be bad business.

What Shorlen said.

So.. blessings/buffs...

gain the benefits of level 80 without being level 80.

make yourself look like an npc - plays with everyone's colours.
Verithrax2006-08-28 16:51:26
Dunno about an origin for these, but:

Aura of Pestilence: Non-viscanti enemies in the room are afflicted randomly in your presence.

Terrifying Complexion: Enemies in the room are afflicted with fear periodically.

Because this is more fun to think about while I'm updating the datakeys and subkeys of every program for 90 campuses...

A quest of some sort where-in you do something with aetherstrands (help some scientitst or scholar or something in an underground lab somewhere or something to prevent a catastrophe that his experiments have triggered that would result in the unraveling of the aether strands or something) if you succeed, you get to teleport free of power for a certain amount of time - like an in-game day. If you fail, your ability to teleport is temporarily blocked for a certain amount of time - like an in-game day. It can be done as many times as you like for exerience, but the teleportation reward can only be received once in a certain amount of time - like an in-game month. Because of the scientist or whoever not wanting to risk damage renewed damage to the aetherstrands or something. If you do it again in the mean-time you just get gold.

A quest of some sort where-in you do something to help some researcher or something, maybe they're trying to find the answer to some question and there are clues scattered all around the area and there are lots of mini-quests within the quest and several of them can get you the items you need just in different ways and each different way gets a slightly different version of the items you need and depending on which of the mini-quests you do and which verstions of the items you get, as a reward, you get taught 1 new language permanently. You can choose which language you'll learn while you do the quest by picking and choosing which mini-quests to do (the clues for which does what would be kind of obvious). This quest can be done as many times as you like for experience, but you can only receive the language reward once in your life - cause of the difficulty in learning a new language unless you're specially trained (like bookbinders are - and bookbinders wouldn't get the language reward for this quest twice because there's only so many languages one person can learn tongue.gif ). You'll just get gold after that.

I'm surprised that there's not as many suggestions here as for afflictions!

Remember, we're looking for buffs/blessings that are unique and not the standard increase in stats. Of course, if no one has any suggestions, we could always stick with increases to stats...

I can't use the old noggin' for creatin' buffs, but I could give some ideas... something to increase not the stats, but the strenght and defense of people... also some misc. buffs for non-combat uses would be cool too!

Questable hocus pocus. *beg*

Probably because there are a lot of buffs arond already, and coming up with one that isn't horribly overpowered is hard.

Maybe something that increases the speed of your Power regen for a while?

I'd like to see buffs that give the same effect as a trans skill (Discipline Power regen, Arts detection of illusions, Magic and Resilience resistance) for a limited time, to people without the skill at trans (IE, non-cumulative with the actual skill.)

Oh as for an idea... how about:

Shapeshifter Mask.... allows you to assume the form of a pilgrim/npc for a short amount of time... Can be seen through only by discern. And then people can sneak in and out of communes, cities etc... Would be funny to see an aslaran pilgrim on water... that could talk... Oh and the drawback when using the mask is your health/mana is reduced making yourself an easier target if caught.

Mouthpiece Of The Scholars - blessing gained through questing that allows you to speak and understand all languages for a set amount of time. Not too short, but nothing too ridiculously long. An IC month or half month would be reasonable, since understanding languages isn't so damaging to others really and you would want some time to play around with it.

Poison Ivy - a blessing which causes accumulating damage and perhaps a choice of a few related afflicions suitable to the effects of poison ivy when someone attacks you (touches you). The effects would get worse the more the one person comes in contact with the Poison Ivy.

Aetheric Mind - this blessing allows you to enter a manse connected to your city or commune (useless for rogues, I know, sorry) from anywhere in the basin, say, five times. You would only be able to enter those manses which you could normally enter from within your home state. There would be a delay on the use of this skill and you could not use it as an escape from battle. This is meant to be more of a utility skill gained through blessing, not one designed to help you run away.

I've got some more ideas, but I'll see how these are taken before I take the time to write more out. Time to do some uni work.
Verithrax2006-08-29 00:21:52
That last one is really useless for everyone, since it's basically a TELEPORT NEXUS.
Unknown2006-08-29 00:27:17
Saves a few steps along the way *shrug*.

Personally, I don't like quests that give buffs, because they end up being like defs that require power, only worse because you have to dedicate more time to doing them - but again, that's just me. Heh, if the actual quests do come out I'll probably just not do them. Back on topic with a few buffs, mostly to help the disadvantaged (they're probably overpowered, though; feel free to critique):

Transmutation of Weaknesses - A random racial disadvantage is removed and placed on another disadvantage (e.g., a Taedae may end up with no balance disadvantage but, eek, a level 6 equilibrium disadvantage) or, if there is no other racial disadvantage, a random disadvantage (e.g., a Taurian may remove his magical disadvantage for, perhaps, a level 1 equilibrium disadvantage). The effect isn't permanent, and wears off after a time (how long, I have no idea; should be long enough to be useful and short enough to not unbalance the game, of course).

Native weapon - With the recent change to native weapon accuracy (they miss more frequently now), I think having a native weapon doesn't have much of an advantage, particularly when taking into account the disadvantages of the some of races that wield them (low strength and slow balance for dwarves, very slow balance for Igasho). They should be buffed a little bit in some way, but I can't think of an idea right now. Just bringing the topic up for discussion.

And a buff unrelated to helping the disadvantaged:

Determination - A skill that occurs with the frequency of something like maneuvers in a Knighthood specialization or languages in Bookbinding (probably less frequent, though), determination signifies the sum of a person's mental discipline put to work. An action specified by determination will go through aeon, stupidity, fractured skull, paralysis, and any other non-physical (e.g., webs) hindering mechanism. If it can be done physically, it will be done no matter what the mental state of the victim is in. Specifying an action to be used with determination should consume a large amount of equilibrium balance, so it's unfeasible to change actions in the middle of combat.

What about a buff that gives you a creature for a limited amont of time that was attuned to all the tells being sent to people in a room and that creature replayed them to you. Sort of a spy creature thing. (Sort of like how the seraphs work in imperian.)
Sylphas2006-08-29 04:19:24
Angel mindread is fun. smile.gif

And yes, it is annoying that the elite top-tier expects people who have problems fighting to always run around with Tosha, etc up. Quest blessings should be a bonus now and then, not something you whore out to be able to compete.
