Is this acceptable from an RP point of view?

And I can't say I liked it in Magnagora (didn't dislike it either, I was more lukewarm). I won't complain about newbies being treated roughly, because it fits the city's RP and is made on tolerable levels. But they seem to be ignored most of the time. No complaints apart from that.

We are trying to change that though, at least in the Ur'Guard. I honestly don't care how many UnderSecs I need to kill before they get the point, but they WILL be treating the novices less roughly and spending more time and attention on them - either that or they will be visiting the Fates a lot more till I can find some UnderSecs that will.

Oh and the RP might be there in Celest if you look for it, but you shouldn't have to look - it should be underpinning the actions of everyone in the city.

I like that Magnagora is rough with their novices, and I think that can be done without their novices seeming ignored or degraded in a non-RP way. Meaning, like boot camp, not like a prison.

Well, for a while, the ur'Guard novices were called Maggots. sad.gif

In the beginning the Geomancer novice channel was "Grubs" referring to the grubs on the Earth Plane. I'm still mad the guild changed it to "Pupils."

Hartstone is trying to change theirs from Pebbles to Dedicants. (Well, they have been for a while) which is sad.. I mean.. the Stones in the Hartstone Grove which tell their history are so fitting with the philosophy of White Hart. And Pebble fits perfecty in with the idea of those stones, as they are a tiny piece carved out in the making if Hartstone's future.

But nooo. They want to be Dedicants because the guild has no grasp on the finer points of their own philosophy.

I always wanted it to be fawns. A pebble makes me think more of the destruction of a standing stone, than the beginning of one. Rocks start out large and then are broken down into pebbles.

I voted for pebbles way back when this was an issue. Like... SIX MONTHS AGO. tongue.gif

I like the meditative imagery of pebbles, and it fits with the Stones as you said. But we're a guild, and its important that we all decide such things. Woe for democratic process.

I also think you're wrong that Hartstone doesn't have a grasp on the finer points of our philosophy.

I'll admit that things could have changed. I was more referring to when the vote was made, to be honest.

I personally like the Nihilist novice title. It not only fits the Guild, it's also a subtle nod towards the Fatalists, and a tongue-in-cheek insult ("Instrument of the Fates" implying that the novices have not yet matured sufficiently to make their own decisions).
Noola2006-08-28 13:12:25
The Aquamancer novice title trips me up. I keep calling it 'Sprouts' instead of 'Spouts.' I even told a novice to read GHELP SPROUTS the other day. They were like "That doesn't seem to exist" and I was confused, and then I looked at what I'd said. blush.gif
Acrune2006-08-28 13:23:50
Yeah, I was an Aquamancer for about a week before I realised it didn't say sprouts. Had me pondering why our novice channel name seemed so planty instead of watery. unsure.gif
Shiri2006-08-28 13:54:24
Sometimes it seems like I'm the only one that never had that problem, Aquamancer or otherwise. dry.gif

I have say this a lot.. Paladins have great RP if the current Knights are willing to. Tervic when not in insane parrot mode is quite the RPer. Bandeon is also good. You can avoid the snugglies in Celest if you go with the pallies. I didn't like Magnagora because I felt so lonely ( sad.gif ). Everyone's doing their own thing and was rather boring. If I would've stayed an Ur'Guard I would be now a Morgfyre-ite (which fits with all the destruction fanatics they have around)..

I like that title. It sounds like they're supposed to be learning, instead of lying around exhaling Taint fumes.

Oh, and I've always tried to treat novices with decency, because they're new to the game. Apprentices don't have that excuse, so I have no qualms about being rough to them until they make something of themselves.
Unknown2006-08-28 19:28:45
It seems that the Lucidian language is filled with apostrophies too, looking at the names in the observatory and mesa...

Anyway, back on topic, do not do not do not bring Aerenna back, or her clone with a new name. If you got so pissed with people when using Aerenna and her RP, making another character with the same RP will get you nowhere. At all.

Start afresh; go somewhere else; have a new character; stop whining about your lack of English because it's fine and I wouldn't have known if you hadn't whined; meet new people; try things out; explore; don't be rash when getting pissed with others; don't get OOCly pissed with others; have FUN.

Thank you.

*cries at the hate Crow Speak is recieving*

The most crow speak BT speaks is usually Hello, Greetings, Good-bye, Blacktalon, sister, brother, Lord, Lady, uhh...Mistress, Master, Glomdoring, and erm...breathren, I fink. But yeah, I can understand people using Crow Speak in their Titles because well...its our..language..I know its got quite a bit of ' but Emar explained it once, I believe why there were so many.
Unknown2006-08-28 20:09:49
Ooh Ooh, I know! It's because that crow noises are so croaky and clicky, and it's meant to be whats called a "glottal stop". Y'know in English cockney, you say what sounds like bo-ul for bottle and bu-uh for butter? Well that noise, that sudden absence of sound, is the apostrophe. It's a bit like a Sheva, for those that know hebrew (read: Daganev).
silimaur2006-08-28 20:10:00
everyone seems to bad mouth glom but to be honest ive noticed that the forest is split between 50% idiots 50% really nice good people that are fun to play with/against

novicehood and beyond is definitely the best in glomdoring with everyone willing to help and give a hand (maybe im the only one that experianced this) most of the people have there own rp making it fun to get to know all the different faces

special thanks to shayle for all her help
