Anyhow, I don't think the current system is all that bad. Either one, you bash all the way to Demigod and are cool and rp it and make it work, and the system works, or you bash all the way and then quit because you 'won', and others can just say you've...dunno...'sunk into meditation over the cosmos' or something.
Anything apart from straight, unjudged player achievement gets very foggy. If you had the appointed divine heralds concept implemented, it becames a game of favoritism. As much as I like the -concept-, I haven't seen an example here of a way to, without any hint of bias, appoint non-bashing demigods (or equivalents).
