That's just wrong. I could not move out the room because liveforest was hitting so fast. It should be fun to see this stun action on ripple hitting this fast.
Sylphas2006-08-28 16:24:21
You do realize that if it does, the stun is blatantly better, and they both need looked at, right?
Xenthos2006-08-28 16:27:15
Use time stamps, please? It used to be a 14-second tick, and it shouldn't have changed. If it did, something's messed up-- announce stated nothing about being faster.
Ashteru2006-08-28 16:28:18
maybe you shouldn't writhe after you tipheret...I mean, I didn't see a timer, but doing both is a bit much, no...

It is much much much much faster then 14 seconds. I'm thinking something like 3-4, and its been that fast since I've been raiding ethereal (shortly after the war started)

Edit: Though from what I've seen, every tic you have a chance (maybe 25%?) of getting webbed.
Soll2006-08-28 16:32:38
It seems to be on a defined timer, but the timer seems to change. I think it's actually closer to a 25-33% chance to web every 3-4 seconds, than any "It will hit every x seconds." That's why you see big groups of stuff like. Same with shrine powers.

Vines reach out and slither up around you, wrapping you in a tight grip.
Vines reach out and slither up around Malicia, wrapping her in a tight grip.

Narsrim2006-08-28 16:33:13
I don't have a timestamp, but there are some general inferences that can be made:

Tipheret has a 2.0-2.5 second equilibrium. If you look at the log:

1. Liveforest hits
2. Narsrim Tipherets
3. Liveforest hits (before equilibrium is regained)
4. Narsrim attempts to move west
5. Delay from gravity
6. Liveforest hits BEFORE movement happens

While we would be roughly assuming, I think we can totally 100% rule out every 14 seconds. It is more like every 6. HOWEVER IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE, Liveforest seems to hit less if there are more targets in a given area. I can't prove this, but from experience, it seems to be the case.

Which needs severely changed. It can web you back-to-back-to-back like 3 times in a row every 4 seconds.
Daganev2006-08-28 16:39:06
would it make more sense if it hit every 4 seconds, but only one person, so the more people the less likely for any individual to get hit? (ontop of the 30% chance)
Sylphas2006-08-28 16:52:49
If there were 5 people, and it didn't pick any person more than once, that's basically on a 20 second timer. If there are more, it gets slower.
Narsrim2006-08-28 17:13:16
Whatever the case, it needs fixed to only hit a given individual say every 14 seconds or so.
Estarra2006-08-28 17:16:18
The rate of liveforest shouldn't have changed but we'll look into it.

BTW, the "14 second" timer was a myth as the discretionary powers are much more complicated than simple timers (one of the reasons changing it to "hit everyone at once" isn't really doable).
Narsrim2006-08-28 17:17:37
Well all I know is that I was bound 3 times in a row with about 4 seconds in between hits. That, regardless of how it is coded, is too fast.
Sylphas2006-08-28 18:25:21
Wouldn't it be easier to just start from scratch, yank the demesne code, and tweak it to be Etherwilde/etc. only? unsure.gif

Then again, I have no clue how they work now or how Rapture is coded.

Of course not, one helps Narsrim, the other doesn't dry.gif

But seriously, liveforest should either hit everyone on a 14 second timer like we thought it did, or have a 25% chance of hitting every 4-6 seconds =\\
Archthron2006-08-28 20:44:27
Um, if you writhed instead of tiphereting... well, entangles don't stack, so you'd escape entanglement and instantly be able to move. Just get rid of that tipheret response and you're golden.

That's closer to how it works which makes me think Narsrim may just have been unlucky for that snippet he posted.
Genos2006-08-28 22:13:30
Is there a way to make it so you won't have unlucky streaks like Narsrim had?

Why? Unlucky strokes mean there are also lucky strokes in which you aren't afflicted at all for a long time - you're MUCH more likely to NOT be afflicted four times in a row than to be afflicted four times in a row.
Verithrax2006-08-28 23:03:25
Yes, but that kind of defeats the purpose of using a random number.
