Only just seen this thread? how were you planning to run it? I could write a judge map of this map if you want.

What are you talking about, trying to "run" it? I saw some mistakes in the map, and pointed them out. What's the problem? blink.gif

My comment wasn't aimed at you, hence why I didn't quote you it was aimed at the thread as a whole. i.e playing a Lusternia Varient of Diplomacy. Online games of Diplomacy are usually run via programs called a judge, which accept emails from players and processes the orders. To use varients with these you need to develop map files so that the judge understands the world.

Oh, right sorry. The "only just seen the thread" thing made me grab the wrong end of the stick doh.gif blush.gif

In my community, we used to play Diplomacy online quite often. This was to insure that nobody got mad at eachother.

The GM would create 7 hotmail email addresses for each country, then hand out the passwords, and nobody knew who was which country. Then we would email the GM our Moves, and after x amount of hours we would all get an email back stating the results.

It was then up to each of the players to adjust the map accordingly. One time though they emailed out powerpoint presentations to each person so they could adjust thier maps more easily.

Don't need any special fancy software.

Just saw this thread, and noticed some mistakes in the map, sorry for any party-poop caused:

It's a Lucidian Observatory
Gaudi's nexus is the Eternal Flame
I'm pretty sure a god said that Ackleberry's tree was the Elder Honeysap.

Thank you, any other corrections?

I know you don't its just easier for the GM. Hell even when I play with a judge I have my copy of Diplomacy open on the floor so I can track what is going on.

Here is a corrected map, hope you like the new additions.

Well, if we wanted to play entirely by email, we could use a judge... I think it would be just as easy to do the whole PM thing, because people wouldn't need to learn the syntax and other such issues. Whatever flotas your guys boats, though, I guess.
Daganev2006-08-31 15:26:34
I prefer PMs
Taika2006-08-31 15:44:58
If PMs work with people, please PM me if you want to play, with a full prefrence list! (EX: MCGlAGaHS, for Magnagora being the most sought after and Serenwilde being the least).

And if you need the rules explained, say that in the PM, and I'll help you out.

EDIT: I'm gone for the night. I've heard from two people so far, PM PM PM! I'll (or someone else) answer any questions as soon as possible.
Daganev2006-08-31 19:00:14
Taika, if you want to be GM, I think you will need to send PMs to the people who said they were interestg in playing on the first page, so that they know its time to make choices, and write up a post explaing the set up rules nad the like.
Daganev2006-09-01 04:55:53
sad.gif no more interest?
Unknown2006-09-01 06:55:03
I'm interested, but I have no idea how to play! happy.gif

You can download the 4th Edition rules from the Avalon Hill website here

I think I might just pass on this one. The rules are complicated, and it's the kind of thing that needs someone right there to explain easily. I'll see if any friends of mine know the game, and ask them tongue.gif

Really? I just read through the rules and found them to be quite simple and straightforward.

Yeah, but I almost fell asleep at my keyboard just now. Had a loooong night yesterday. I go into mental shutdown when I'm sleepy, retaining only basic language skills and foum-browsing. yawn.gif

5/7 spots are taken. More than two people expressed intrest at some point, so I'll let people who want to play PM me - its worked so far.

Now, this game is going to work just like regular diplomacy, except that we are using a Lusternian map, and that you can choose your initial builds. So, while Gaudiguch will star with units at Gaudiguch, the Eternal Flame, and the Skarch Desert, you can choose what units - anything from three fleets (I can't imagine why...) to three armys, or something in between.

So far, players are as follows:
Daganev
AlyssandraAbSidhe
Fallen
Shorlen
Rauros
Ytraelux

The rest of the positions are first come first serve. If you want to play, PM me saying so, with a prefrence list if you have any prefrences.

EDIT: Ytraelux joined. One spot left.

I have some questions:

1)How do we treat the two halves of Balach?
2)Can I you move a fleet from the Sea of Despair to the Kelpie Shoals and vice-versa?
3)On provinces with two coasts (Great Pass and Blasted Lands) Can I have a fleet /army on each side of it?
4)What dates are we using?
5)How can we do negotiations if we don't know who is who?
6)What do we do with units go before the retreat/disband phase?
7)If I have my home 3 power centers, and I have conquered another, the rulebook says I need as many units as power centres, but you can only build units on your home turf. Can someone explain what I missed?
8)If I order a unit to support, do I have to renew that order every turn?
9)Are we gonna be lazy and use abbreviations, or just write the full name out?
10)Finally, can anyone give me advice on how to mark/write everything that happens down?

Thanks.
