And... THERE'S the attack on the political leadership in-game! happy.gif

I'm sorry. I thought I'd already made one. I hope I didn't spoil anyone's winnings.

For once I agree with Exarius. You're all freaking out over nothing.

All right. The alt.

First of all, I realize that what I have to say about it won't make much of an impact one way or another, because judging by the line-up of people who've been complaining, this isn't even about the alt. This about you feeling threatened by me in general, because I do things my own way, not yours.

Why must everything be about your harem? Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, you do stupid things, rather than just have people hate you because of it? Will you stop pretending people complain about you not because of what you do, but rather because you're part of some invisible oppressed minority?

Aaand... Seriously, why take it to the 8th level and mess around Newton for no reason? If you want to make an alt, sure, but act like a regular, IC character. You could've made a character, notified Shayle, jumped into Ethereal, mapped, then suicided. But you're obviously not using the character for that. It's not a conspiracy theory, more the fact that you bitched about Shayle elsewhere and lied to her by basically saying, "I don't need to act as a guild member because I'm an OOC character. Ignore me!" and then acting like a regular alt.

I agree that it would be nice if things were arranged where everyone's talents got a chance to shine. We really should have a more even distribution among the players, where full representation is allowed to a wide variety of styles and philosophies, and neither petty bias nor dirty tricks are allowed to sideline anyone.

But enough about city, commune, and guild politics.

I'm a professional artist. I happen to be a professional artist who plays Lusternia, and doesn't mind doing work here and there for credits instead of cash because of it. No one screamed bloody murder (that I can recall) when Estarra hired a professional artist to do the racial portraits.

It is not a crime that I'm good at what I do. Nor is it crime to get compensated for my time (far less compensation, I might add, than if I charged my usual hourly rate and converted that back into credits). It's not a crime that Estarra wants a coherent, professional look for the web site, and its not a personal insult to anyone that I'm the one doing it, anymore than its a personal insult to the other applicants that only one gets hired for any other given job.

I will address the issues about the alt. Later. But right now, it's a holiday, and my family wants me.

Oh, and Caffrey, I'm never replacing the whole realms map. Your style's definitely better for it than mine.

Wow.. well I wasn't mad at you before, and didn't take it personally before. But now I do.

Nobody was attacking you. Some of us, who are willing to make our maps for free, without ANY compensation, who also are regularly paid to be profesional artists, just enjoy the idea that people will see our work and talk to us about it, and will appreciate the art and time that went into it. Some of us, just like to know that our name is up there and don't like it seeing torn down for lame reasons. (no lame reasons were given, thus the question!)

But now, with your post, I'm going to be looking at you as an arrogant prick for the rest of the time I see you.

As I put on the explanation part of the artisanal entry, I took the philophical stance that in/out/up/down are illusions created by the mind of the viewer because of the gyroscopic nature of the Faciltity.

That's a really interesting point of view, if you have the time, give your input on my thread on creative arts? (I'd rather not derail this flame-fest)

Yes Exarius, we're all set against you due to a deep-set fear of you resulting from the fact that you're different.

disclaimer: That was not serious.

disclaimer no. 2: I was quite impressed, I actually managed to type that in and press submit while maintaining a straight face.

I don't see what the big deal is. One little mistake -- the thing about using Nature instead of Planar -- explains everything without need for any conspiracy. And it seems a very believable mistake, one anyone could have made. I don't see any reason to think Exarius did anything more wrong here than maybe not explain something as well as he might have right away (also a mistake anyone could have made).

Nobody suggested a conspiracy, just an annoyance of being told they have to treat this charachter OOC, when he is acting very much IC.
