I'm thinking these spheres will open up a gateway into the Nexus worlds, and that the winning org will get their first building free.

A vernal couldn't be that cheap, surely. So, hmm...
Not that I consider the prize cheap, I would just expect a vernal to cost a heck of a lot.

From: Estarra, the Eternal
To : Everyone
Subj: Spheres and Poetry
On October 7 (which coincidentally corresponds with Lusternia's anniversary!), one of the four poems will be chosen as the best of the best. Entries can be works already published in other contests (including any bardics), though remember it must be a work that represents the city/commune.
*phew*
For some reason, I had thought it was only a couple days away... not a month..
I was freaking out about all the work and organizing for this I was going to have to crush through tomorrow!
Diamondais2006-09-04 03:15:15
Eh..Ill give it a try after speaking with my Writers Craft teacher for catching up on Poem stuff. Should be fun and interesting!

Roses are black
Violets are useless
Viravain loves Glomdoring
And NOTHING MATTERS BUT GLOMDORING!
Does that win?
Fallen I think you are correct, its going to be the aether worlds and building upgrades. Very exciting.

Dang, beaten to it... Ah well, back to the drawing board. Maybe I can work from that other classic, "Seren and Mag, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G".

Out of curiosity, because I have never been involved in these things before...
Is the structure of the poem going to be a factor in choosing a winner, or is Lusternia too post modern for that?
Like say, I was able to write a ballad where each stanza was a haiku, and each haiku started with the next letter of the alphabet... would that get any points?

Hmm, true, poetry certainly comes in many forms. In my opinion, it's more the content of the poem than the form it takes, but that's just me and I'm a horrible poet.
Besides, if you did what you mentioned, it'd be far too long!
Unknown2006-09-04 03:40:09
poetry with all sorts of forms, and none at all, have won the bardics before. I don't see it as being a problem.
Daganev2006-09-04 03:44:07
650 words is too much for a poem?
Xenthos2006-09-04 03:45:04
I'd guess a poem could be 10,000+ words... so no. 650 isn't too much.
Reiha2006-09-04 03:52:10
If our poetry is especially bad, do we get some sort of prize?
Gelo2006-09-04 03:56:05
QUOTE(Xenthos @ Sep 4 2006, 12:54 PM) 327514
There is no 1 million gold- just something WORTH 1 million gold AND 100,000 power.
So something that other cities/communes could buy with that much, I presume.
Oh sorry. Misread then. Too exited about something I most probably wont participate in. heh

Yes. where do you think these credits are coming from the players who fail miserably.
Dag, Epic poetry encompasses whole stories. I tend to keep my poetry short, maybe 30-60 lines, but that's just me.
