Guild Histories

I know lots of people want to see their guild help files updated. For example, the Serenguard just learned their history and who they are recently, but the helpfile is still the same two sentences: that they are the warriors, and they follow both Moon and Stag. Except for the Glomdoring guilds (which were formed in game with lots to draw on), none of the other guilds have any detail in their history.

I know the Administration has a lot of work on their hands, so I won't ask you to update the help files for us. That would be silly tongue.gif. Instead, I suggest that every X Guild Administrator get to review their guild's helpfile and rewrite it. Of course it can only be a few sentences long, and the bottom part of each help file is fine (though some might need to be tweaked in regards to some sill specializations). To give you an idea of what I'm suggesting, here's what I might write for the Serenguard one.

QUOTE
The Serenguard are the warriors of the Serenwilde Forest. Founded by the Centaur centuries ago after Grutina Oakvine and her rogue druids attacked the Forest, they value loyalty and honour in their duty to defend their people from all that would do them harm. Their ways are founded in traditions that recognize and explore the warrior's spiritual side. Accepting the beliefs of both Mother Moon and Brother Hart, they stand watch over their Forest home against the forces that wish to destroy the Seren and the Fae.

Or at least something like that. This way, the help files can reflect what the guild truly thinks of itself as I agree with a comment a long time ago that some of the help files are rather biased, portraying some guilds as good and above the others, while others are protrayed as bad or downright evil (particularly the Magnagoran guilds).

This would certainly be nice. Guild Master or Guild Administrator could maybe be allowed to change these with the permission of their Patron?

You should also mention that there are the neutral sect within the Serenwilde, and the voice of reason.

I didn't put that because that is highly subjective. The stuff about loyalty, honour, and traditions can be easily observed by outsiders, but when it comes to things like that, you will have very wide opinions.

Message your Patron, you should be able to change your help file. I know the marshal of glomdoring changed the glomdoring help file at one point.

I really like your description of Serenguard! That is so succinct and informative, it would be perfect. thumup.gif

Don't suppose you'd like to try one for Hartstone? tongue.gif

I don't think this is anywhere near as nice...
QUOTE

The Hartstone are the shamans and wise ones of the Serenwilde Forest. With practices steeped in mysticism and possessed of a deep reverence for the spirits of their ancestors, these Druids act to preserve both the physical health of the living world and the natural lore passed down through the centuries. In this task they are aided by the gentle guidance of White Hart, one of the Great Spirits of Serenwilde, who takes the form of a noble white stag. Seeking always to bring healing and restoration to what they see as a ravaged and polluted wilderness, the Hartstone do not hesitate to call upon the forces of Nature itself to protect their home.

Be nice if it mentioned the darker aspects of our past. Just a suggestion you dont have to follow.

I think it is hard to add how that has changed our guild philosophy succinctly, and without a fairly long description of events.

It is now known that it was from the Hartstone guild long ago that the destructive and vengeful sect led by Grutina Oakvine emerged, in a bloody civil war that nearly tore apart the Serenwilde. When the Tainted conspirators were finally defeated, the surviving Hartstone loyalists were renewed in their determination to oppose corruption and sickness rather than accept and work with it. Although the dark spirits of Grutina and her coterie rose from the dead to threaten Serenwilde again, they were banished to Glomdoring before any lasting damage could be done.

Meh. Someone else might be able to explain it better. And I don't want the severe anti-taint sentiment born from that event to overpower the constructive sense of what our guild is about.

That last one I would say is too long. The help files I've noticed are relatively brief, just enough for a small taste of the guild. Plus, there's really not a need to mention the latest event with Grutina since, though important to the guild, doesn't really describe it... just my opinion though.

Thank you Daganev, I will try that. Lord Charune seems to be reasonable enough tongue.gif.
