I didn't say that they couldn't do it. They can, what I don't understand is how they let them do it, and I'm not talking about actions to stop the planes mid-air, but prior days to that. And if you think about it, the goverment has done some terrible things. Just to begin with, Cars and gasoline and cheaper technologies. That's just screwed up right there. And it's not the first time. Remember the railroads? Tamony hall? All of the corruption? It's just the same thing. I believe it could happen and I'm 60% sure that they either let the whole thing happened or just saw it as an oportunity to do things they have wanted to do. The same with Iraq. The goverment took the chance to eliminate someone they didn't like for economical reasons and labeled as part of the war on terror. Mark my words, if this is going to be ignored and pardoned, it shouldn't take long to get Venezuelan president Chavez out of power a la Salvador Allende. Every goverment in the world is able to do scary things.
And even if it was a surprise attack, and nothing could've been done to prevent it, it was really damned convinient that it did happened. Not only it saved Bush's presidency but also took the eyes away from economy. That right there, you cannot pass as a conspiracy theory. That did happened. The goverment used the terrorists attacks as a strategy to give the current management more time on the chair. And it worked fascinatingly good.
Next you're going to be saying that Pearl Harbour was a conspiracy because the US government could have known about it before hand had they done the right things? Worked out well for Franklin D. Roosevelt too, kept him in office for four terms with the whole war. Governments are formed by people, who all suffer from the same problems that every other person suffers from. Until we have perfect people, we won't have perfect governments, so there will always be those out there trying to get power, or influence, or wealth.

Some intersting tidbits I heard on the radio today.
36% of americans think that its likely that 9/11 was a government plot.
43% of Californians are registered as either Republican or Demorcrat.

Well, there ARE some evidences that they KNEW something was happening, but they tought that it was just failures of the new radar technology(they were having lots of problems when they started with the radars). There are many documentals on this and I've seen a couple on History channel. One on the history of the radar and other technologies and one on airplane strategies(D Day and Pearl harbour). And yes, I do think that the War helped not only Roosevelt, but the United States in general since they had the perfect geographic position to fight a war. But Teddy was the better Roosevelt.
And concerning daganev's little survey he heard, the percent of people that think 9/11 was goverment plot increases in other countries.

Corinthian... I kinda get the vibe here that you just to understand how people work on a certain level.
If you've ever been associated with anything technical, especially with a group of people and something technical... the level of human error, stupidity, laziness to the point of risking lives... it's just unbelievable.
If a well funded, well staffed, allegedly well trained organization drops the ball 9 times out of 10 they didn't even know they had it to begin with.
