How about allowing people to see when a poison (other than mantakaya) hits the target?
Things like:
Niricol:
Vesar blinds rapidly, as if trying to clear something from his eyes.
Calcise:
You see Vesar stumble as one of his legs shrivels.
Escozul:
Vesar pales slightly.
Dulak:
Vesar smacks his head and wonders "Why, oh why, can't I see when I afflict someone with a poison??"
Thoughts?

I'd prefer calcise and that armshriveling poison being fixed first.

Good idea, I like it. Will let the warrior adjust his or her tactic accordingly to whether the poison hits or not.
We already have something like this for paralysis, after all. Don't we?

Paralysis, and only paralysis, yes.
Still run into a problem with those that shrug the poison, but I can live with that.

Yay! This would help fetishes too mmm..I hate not seeing what afflictions hit with charybdon and if they shrug or not
Acrune2006-09-06 19:21:25
That'd be a decent upgrade to warriors and ecologists and telekinetic mages. Question is, do they need an upgrade?
Sylphas2006-09-06 20:22:55
Ecologists could use it. Fetish is rather bleh as is, this would help.
Daganev2006-09-06 20:37:46
I don't think the messages should work for Charybdon, but ever other poison, yes.

Agreed
Shamarah2006-09-06 22:00:27
Crotamine shouldn't show a third-person message on hit either, since it doesn't to the target, and everyone sees the symptom messages anyway.
This sounds fine otherwise though.

It would certainly be more 'realistic' to see someone legs shriveling when they do... I can already imagine two friends duelling -without- this update...
"Dude, hold up. My arm just fell off... Again."
"What? I didn't see nothin'!"

It's just a flesh wound! Have at thee!

Poison usage in general needs an upgrade.

One thing I'm glad for is that we don't have poison combos like in Achaea, where it hit 100% of the time. Increasing poison affliction rate might be a bad idea, let's just have Vesar's proposed change.
Vesar2006-09-09 00:02:25
Terenas2006-09-09 07:39:53
I proposed something similar to this a while back before I went dormant. It doesn't even have to be customized but simply a generic message for when a poison hit would be more than enough.
Shirath2006-09-09 15:01:09
Just saying 'it hit' or 'it missed' is surreal... You don't see if your poison hits or misses, you see wether something happens to your opponent after whacking them with your poisonified tools.
I mean, what would you like better?
"You strike at Shirath. The poison you applied to your weapon hits him."
-or-
"You strike at Shirath. He writhes in agony as his arms shrivel into useless appendages."
Personally, I'd go with #2, and anyone else with a sense of realism would too
"Hah! I hit you with my poison! Now all I need to do is remember which one I put on..."

The generic message suggestion would had simpler to implement for the admins since they will not need to write up multiple messages for many of the poisons. Frankly, as long as this gets implemented it doesn't matter.
Vesar2006-09-09 15:50:10
Something like "As your weapon strikes flesh, you notice a layer of poison wipe off."
