Wow, nobody pointed out the typo in the post between

^estarra_his

and the use of "her" in the example.

EMOTE turns to ^estarra, reaching out and shaking ^estarra_his hand,
smiling widely.

What is seen by Everyone:
Roark turns to Estarra, reaching out and shaking her hand, smiling widely.

Must really love the system not to notice the fun typo tongue.gif

That's not a typo. That's correct. You always use the male, and the system figures out the right gender.

I assumed it was to not complicate the matter. You'd use ^estarra_his and the system would automatically use "her" in the emote, based on Estarra's actual gender, not what you typed as the command.

Er, that is, if I understood your concern correctly.

EDIT: Ninja'd, but I like my post better. ninja.gif

Ha! Jokes on me!

Thats what I get for just reading syntax examples.
Viravain2007-01-15 01:01:54
Shorlen is correct concerning the ^estarra_his syntax.

Don't let it go to your head! biggrin.gif

I don't think this is working with sentient pets, should it?

At first, the excess of sentences starting with dependant clauses was really, really starting to bug me, but then I got used to it, and decided it wasn't so bad, and in fact, was quite perfect.

Shamarah2007-01-15 04:04:37
I think one potential problem is with verbs. For instance:

emote thinks ^shorlen are a liar.

Shorlen sees: Shamarah thinks you are a liar. (Okay!)
Everyone else sees: Shamarah thinks Shorlen are a liar. (Not okay!)

If I change the "are" to "is", it's reversed.

Am I missing some option that fixes this?

With a scowl, you say, "And what structure is that."

Karnagan snorts in derision, glaring at Dradan.

***

With a salute, Trooper Theomar of the Army of Darkness says, "Yes, Ur'Marshal."

You say, "Dissent crushes, soldier. Contrary to the whining you may see, the
fact is that men need discipline and structure. Without good, firm leadership,
they are nothing but fools with swords. Coddling is not kind: it diminishes the
men under your command."

You have emoted: Karnagan grins viciously at you.

You say, "And then they will go to serve superior warriors. Do you understand?"

With a salute, Trooper Theomar of the Army of Darkness says, "I understand, and
agree whole-heartedly, Ur'Marshal."

You nod your head at Theomar.

With a wry smile, you say, "Then you've learned something. Dismissed, Trooper,
and keep up the pace."

***

Ur'Guard is bloodly deadly for roleplay, and I don't care what anyone says about it.

EDIT: And please, link HELP EMOTE to file 3.6 EMOTING AND THE EMOTE COMMAND instead of HELP EMOTIONS. Much better file.
