Hrm, does this amount of awesome warrant Sior being out of his cage and unshackled to witness the sun now? He's been a good boy.

And we all love him now.

No. Never.

No. In a week or two everyone will be desensitized to the awesomeness of the new emoting stuff. Then they'll remember that new things are rarely ever added to the game and will haughtily demand that the administration gets off its collective arse and deliver on some new projects. After all, the last big thing that was released in Lusternia was the library system. This is clear evidence of Lusternia's stagnation and unless the ideas suggested on forums are implemented immediately the game will go out of business.

So no, he should continue to be locked up and working and disregard the outside world entirely.

Ur'guard has always had good RP, its the rest of the city that often lacks it.

QUOTE(Shamarah @ Jan 14 2007, 08:04 PM) 373429

I think one potential problem is with verbs. For instance:

emote thinks ^shorlen are a liar.

Shorlen sees: Shamarah thinks you are a liar. (Okay!)
Everyone else sees: Shamarah thinks Shorlen are a liar. (Not okay!)

If I change the "are" to "is", it's reversed.

Am I missing some option that fixes this?

Well, I can't see you ever emoting Shamarah thinks (anything). Are there other instances where you'd need to have those verbs work?

If it hasn't been stated, you can't capitalize the name.

emote smiles brightly at ^Bob.

Won't work..

Has to be.

emote smiles brightly at ^bob.

YEEEEES! This is wonderful *goes on hugging spree*. divlove.gifyay.gifcheer.gif

It needs to be a bit more flexible though. Other commands and so forth.

EDIT: Sior gets justcuz_cookies.gifjustcuz_cookies.gifjustcuz_cookies.gif

Only one thing describes my uninhibited elation at the current turn of events.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Thank you.

This is very good. I used it last night when I was talking to Marina's ghost and Elostian showed up, hopefully to good effect.

It's the little things that enhance the game sometimes, not just the big things.

Glad Sior is doing a good job.

A suggestion for a further improvement is to allow targetting objects. The equivalent things to this in Harshlands for instance are ~person and *object. Doesn't sound like it'd be too useful, but when we put it in, it proved far more useful than you'd expect. Like, em continues to strum *lute as he gazes into ^arix's eyes and sings, "Yes, we have no bananas."

Generally speaking, looks really cool to me. (Some of it even uses the same syntax as in Harshlands/SoI.)

If you did something like...

emote chuckles to herself, then points out that ^richter is not wearing any shoes.

You would see: Veonira chuckles to herself, then points out that you is not wearing any shoes.
Everyone else: Veonira chuckles to herself, then points out that Richter is not wearing any shoes.

Maybe there could be another command that's like...^richter_is that would show richter "are" and everyone else "is"
Gwylifar2007-01-15 17:13:42
I played in a MUD that had things like that once. Hardly anyone used them though because they couldn't remember all the options.

say to richter (chuckling to herself) You aren't wearing any shoes!

You would see: Chuckling to herself, Veonira says to you, "You aren't wearing any shoes!"

What if I'm a mute? HMMM!?

Or what if the emote was like...

emote stares at ^shorlen with a disgusted expression on her face, clearly annoyed with how ^shorlen is behaving.

You would see: Veonira stares at you with a disgusted expression on her face, clearly annoyed with how you is behaving.

Nothing, Noola
Just say the sentence from both POVs in your head. It'll take some getting used to, but even EM showing your name first did too. People will adapt, and it willl be awesome

There are ways around it. Its not a big deal.
