You can take the flowerpot with you, you can't take the garden with you. Which, since the garden seems less cool, makes me wonder why it's more expensive.

And I was under the impression that artifact customization was somewhere around 50cr, but I don't see why it would still have to be referred to by the same name. If I want to wield a crowbar, and it says it's a crowbar, why does it have to be a mace?

And I suppose my question will be answered when I open my box in a few days and if the vials that had 0 months left on them are still there, then we know!

This is for the changing it to be an item it's not. Like, say, a purse into a hat.
Xenthos2006-09-11 23:10:23
THREE TYPES OF CUSTOMISATION
----------------------------
DESCRIPTION - Change the way the item appears (and some guild loyals).
Most items may have custom descriptions.
Artifacts may have custom descriptions.
Descriptions may not change the basic nature of the thing.

You cannot change a purse into a hat.
Reiha2006-09-11 23:16:05
Even if the hat kind of looked like a purse, with lots of pockets?
Unknown2006-09-11 23:26:09
They'd make an exception for the right price. Depends on how bad you want it.

Except that changing a purse into a hat doesn't fall under a description change. In Achaea it costs 500 credits and you can get something's "basic nature" changed. So yes, for enough credits you could change a purse into a hat.

Do I really have to quote the entire file for you?

THREE TYPES OF CUSTOMISATION
----------------------------
DESCRIPTION - Change the way the item appears (and some guild loyals).

Artifacts may have custom descriptions.

NON-DECAY - Your item never decays (with restrictions: ask first!)
No forged items. No quest items.
No enchanted items.
Artifacts are already NON-DECAY.
A few items are already NON-DECAY.
Can be purchased without RESETTING.

RESETTING - Item returns to your inventory on a regular basis.
Most items may be made to RESET to their owner.
Quest items may not be given a custom RESET.
Artifacts already RESET to their owner.
BENEFIT: the item won't stay stolen (it always comes back!)
BENEFIT: the item can't be destroyed by sigil or by nexus.
BENEFIT: RESETTING _includes_ NON-DECAY. In fact, you can't
buy RESETTING without also buying NON-DECAY.

COSTS
-----
DESCRIPTION - 50 credits
NON-DECAY - 50 credits
RESETTING - 100 credits. *includes NON-DECAY*

There is NO help file that discusses changing the basic nature of the item at all.

And yet, Daevos has a flame fang. So it must be possible.

Uber Items:
Price-100,000,000 Credits
Usage-For the low-low price of 100,000,000 Credits you may turn an item into an 'uber item' which is essentially a cameo for your item, it changes number, design type, description, and functionality once per hour, into anything else available in the game. It can even turn boxes into hats. Although this causes constant untrapped errors in the game, we don't care, because you've just set us all up for life. tongue.gif

The flame fang is, technically, still a two-handed sword (a greatsword, I believe?)

Yes, it has a new name, but it did not become a fang or a hat in IH as far as I know.

The basic nature of the item has not changed. It's still a two-handed edged weapon with the same IH # and one-word-tag.

That is identical to Achaea's HELP CUSTOMIZATION (I just checked), and yet I know for a fact that you used to be able to change the 'basic nature' of an item. I have seen a mage carrying around an elemental rapier, that functioned as the staff, and I was informed by the mage in question that he got it done for 500 credits.

So, please, stop trying to prove me wrong with a helpfile, when most helpfiles that were ported directly over from Achaea are outdated, because Achaea's are outdated.

Right... just like my sporran I posted earlier. I asked to have its noun changed to "sporran93259" but Estarra said no can do, for technical reasons. It wasn't even possible to make it so p sporran worked, unfortunately; I had to do p purse. I'm sure Daevos's fang thingie is the same.

It is, I asked.

So, it seems that the help scrolls AREN'T inaccurate after all! happy.gif

sounds like someone got lied to in Achaea tongue.gif

except how is a rapier in any way like a staff?

Also, I know people have gotten artifact wear locations changed as well. THAT isn't in the help file either. So what about that?

Different supporting code between the two games? I know from personal experience that Achaea, to this very day, suffers bugs in relation to items with different functions having the same main noun, like the pears for sale in the bardic guildhall being riftable. Something like "rapier" would be corrected easily enough (staffs have weapon stats anyways, and they don't have the same depth of weapon type recognition), but it's very possible that the game's code checks for purses, rather than artifacts, when figuring decay times.
