I'm in college and the internet system has a firewall that won't allow me to connect to the server of lusternia. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and could help me out.

What firewall is it? If it's on your computer, like Windows Firewall, you can go into it's options and set it to allow lusternia.com and/or Port 23 through.

Yes, actually. You hit the firewall through a http page, check to see what program is blocking you out, and then you Google it. Google is the solution to all things electronic.

You need a proxy/tunnel on the outside of the network that runs on a port you can connect to. That is the only way around any firewall, short of knowing an exploit in the firmware/software of the firewall itself.

You can ask the University IT to grant you permission to that one specific port. They generally lock down everything possible just in case. If they fail to grant you that, you'll need a shell account to link to and then bounce your signal to Lusternia. If you have a friend that has a Linux box perpetually online, you might talk to them about working with you.

If you take Riv's advice, it probably will work. Port #23 is used for so many things, not only muds - if you don't tell them what you need it for, the better.

You know, considering lots of people have trouble with this, I'm thinking it might be useful for someone to set up a proxy that runs on Port 80 that will bounce connections to 23.

Anyone willing to volunteer?

Thank you. This would have helped me immensely last year.
