It comes from the sentiment raised on the other thread, I guess...people thought/think that it's just the "New Leaf" clan with a different name. Apparently it's just a harmless deepnight...homage, or something, but for once that particular bit of information isn't spread everywhere all the time so people weren't sure.

Some rant.
By "you people," you mean... Verithrax and Everiine, right? Since they're the only ones I really see 'jumping on him'. And it's mostly just Verithrax.
Or are you just having fun letting off some steam?

I can kinda see your point. But yes, I will be a jerk sometimes, especially to people who took what had been a perfectly exciting conversation in-game and suddenly started making personal attacks against me, my beliefs, and how I play the game.
So, yeah... sometimes I do feel like being a bit of a jack-a. And we're not hypocrites, we just respond in kind when we're blasted around.

To the greater extent, it was those two, but other people added to it, disguised behind humor. And its also partly getting ninjaed because I got distracted while writing the post. But it was directed at enough people to warrant a "you people"

Yeah.. you see the part I bolded? That's being a hypocrite. If you become a jerk because someone else is a jerk, telling that person not to be a jerk.. then you are doing what you say someone else doesn't have the right to do. Hence, hypocrite.

I don't care for/about NASCAR. I have an old friend who was a rabid fan. If, when she wants to talk to someone about the latest race, not participating/listening and/or letting her talk with a third friend, who actually has knowledge and cares about it rather than talk to myself doesn't mean I'm anti-NASCAR or think their interest is wrong. They're welcome to like it and talk about it, I'm just not interested. If they would persist in trying to talk to me about NASCAR and be horrified if I didn't develop an interest in it and/or realize the value of it, then I'd probably get annoyed and not want to be around them.
Everiine2006-09-12 03:31:34
I never said stop being a jerk. Trying to incite logical thinking in a post is being a jerk? And, if you want my own personal opinion, I have no fanstasies whatsoever of trying to change the way anyone plays Lusternia, even people I don't like. But when I don't understand a thought process, I question it. Like this thread. I didn't understand why it was being done, given the circumstances I knew, so tried to spell it out the way it was in my head.

Didn't all three guilds already ban membership in it? Or was that just the New Leaf?

Regarding Zorana:

Tsuki sent someone a message on this general topic recently. Part of what she said was: "so long as such groups do not harm Nature or work against the Wilde" she's not concerned about them.

I don't know how fair that is, if Exarius just views his forest as a home.
I mean, Avaerin has a Great Tree (although I deliberately didn't want to use the word Commune because I think it has special meaning)... so I don't see why you couldn't live in another forest but give your loyalty to one of the three spiritual Communes.
Don't persecute me!
Edit: On the other hand, I guess if it's intended to be an exclusive organization to the existing ones, like Deepnight, then persecute away.

Verithrax2006-09-12 03:41:05
Hey... I didn't jump on Exarius for founding the Commune (I don't mind, promise) I jumped on him because every single post he makes is a veiled attack on Serenwilde and/or another piece about how much he's harassed for being part of some imaginary minority.

I think they saw the Commune of Zorana as just a mutation of the New Leaf, whose influence they were happy to be rid of. Whether you think it was a good decision or a bad one is entirely up to you.
Reiha2006-09-12 03:44:46
Um, Exarius, if you're reading this... before we start even arguing further amongst ourselves either for or against your post's sentiments - could you come and clear everything up about the points raised? Purrty please?
Unknown2006-09-12 03:47:47
There are a lot of threads in this forum that I consider pointless, but I just read/ignore them without writing in them. But, although my character doesn't really care for the forest, I found the little tidbit on Zorana to be interesting, and informative I guess. And that's all I'll comment on *tiptoes carefully over field of landmines*

You know, I think that what a lot of things Exarius, like making the Commune of Zorana and the Shanthine Pride is...really nice of him. And Richter, for building DeepNight. While some people probably think that doing all of this is a total waste of time...its wonderful to see people giving others options instead of just 2 communes/2 cities! We have what? 4 commune/3 cities if you think about it. The Commune of Zorana, the Shanthine Pride, Deepnight are all cities/communes without really being a city/commune. It gives people more options. A place of freedom from the toil of every day. So, I think that some people just shouldn't be rude to Exarius or Richter or anyone who does this sort of thing. Yes their personalities may not be shinning bright and innocent but at least their doing something out of the kindess of their hearts.

You don't call Avaerin a commune nor believe it to be a seperate political entity than the Serenwilde
To make an OOC analogy that will probably get me stabbed in the face, Zorana is like if I were to declare my apartment no longer a part of the US, but rather the country of Belgistan, plant a Belgistanian flag on my front lawn welcome other Americans to join my new soverign country, and yet still expect the US to use their police and army to protect me should I be attacked.

Most of the people that don't like Exarius or Richter have reasons for it that you didn't touch on that run far deeper than what they've set up. Though I've never met Richter, so I can't say anything about him.
