And I remember teasing our "Uncle Nejii" with Sivriel and Tatiana.

Tati needs to come back. sad.gif Good ol' Orc hunting.

I remember...

punching and kicking my way to level 30 not knowing I could use swords.
thinking the bulbous spider was really hard because I was punching and kicking it and had no idea what a health vial was.
wondering why there were pilgrims following people
someone finding me punching weevils, they finally gave me an axe.
when I finally got a health vial I had no idea how to use it asking richter a lot of probably stupid questions and losing the wakabi he gave me about a million times until it finally just dissapeared forever. (I always wondered where it went)
trying to figure out how to get out of entanglements

I know there are a lot more

Hmm, I'm still a newbie. Let's see, I thought that I could open up a planar gate from anywhere just because I had the planar skill for each gate. In asking questions about it, I had my mentor so confused he didn't know his own name. I was walking around trying to find gates everywhere. When I finally figured out that I had to use the nexus AND have gates in another skill...I ended up lost for a very very long time even with the maps on the site.

With my first character, Fugisawa, before Miyumi, biggrin.gif I hadn't choosen an alliance yet when an Ebonguard found me kicking and punching my way around Newton and started impressing me with his totem skills... Hey, to a newbie, even the trout message is amazing.

Any way, after asking how I too could learn these amazing abilites, I was prompted on how to get to the Master Ravenwood Tree where they started asking me all sorts of questions as to what I was looking for in Glomdoring, why I wanted to join, and what I could do to contribute. I honestly thought I was joining some type of online cult... I think I even made mention of it outloud during the initiation.

Afterwards I was taken into the forest where I nearly drowned trying to learn how to bond with the trout I had been so impressed with ealier doh.gif

Other random newbieness with Fujisawa, now Peter, joining when Kelly was the Paladin Guildmaster, and Ekard was the Guild Champion and I was deadly afraid to talk to either of them thinking they were the strongest people in Celest. cool.gif

My first char was a few months ago. I remember begging on the Newbie channel exactly how to learn stuff.

Eventually a fellow Aquamancer walked me through step by step on the basic learnings of the Aquamancer.

Sigh the good old days...

Took me a while to learn CAST BLAST too. Then i was amazed at how powerful it was ALL THE WAY THROUGH Newton just one-shotting everything.

KneelSuckers.gif to the power of Blast!!

Then I got to toronada. And I couldn't one shot anything. Eventually I found out about supplicant quests. (When you could put like several thousand around the tabernacles poor kinspeople!)

Yes I had that expirience. Oh the confusingness of Celests streets. Once you get used to the city though, it didn't suck as much.

I remember aliasing over my ability to heal which resulted in sending panicked tells to poor Nejii. We both thought I'd broken myself. Then Shorlen, more used to explaining things to newbies, guessed what was wrong and I was fixed. biggrin.gif

I did this just the other day. I actually bugged it because I thought my dreamspeak was broken. Then I issued myself with "Nevermind that last bug" when I figured out my alias was just bad.

Oh yeah, more Newbie confessions.

I once asked Lyreth if He could teach me Pyromancy. He said no, but that He could LIGHT me on fire.

He proceeded to do so. He one-shotted me with Ignite. explode.gif

I think I was about early 20s when said incident happened. Right at the Pool of Stars. With about 1/2 of Celest there as well. It was kinda funny. Biiig ouchies though.
Gelo2006-09-15 04:54:55
I remember dying becase someone firewalled the streets of Celest. We were running around that freakin city maze to get to the water but I ended up dying before reaching the sea.

It was embarrasing... Celest is surrounded by the sea yet I cant even maneuvar my way through that city. pullhair.gif

First time I was killed was when Daevos jumped me at the Last Chance Trading post, thinking I was from Celest. I issued him to be able to get a pk status on him, not knowing about the Avenger system. His reply to my issue was like "your stupid blah blah HELP AVENGER" blush.gif

The next month, he sent me a tell ordering a huge order of herbs, totally forgetting what happened the month before. *eyetwitch*

First time I killed Daevos was in an FFA. He couldnt cure sap. He sent me a tell afterwards saying "I want a rematch. Sap is rediculous."

EDIT: Yes! I said maneuvAr. Happy now you scrabble freaks?

Let's see...

I remember being absolutely TERRIFIED of the Guides. I'd scurry out of the Portal room as fast as possible if I saw them, thinking that they may be unpredictable and fry me or something.. blink.gif

I also have a notebook full of maps of Newton, Lolliprin, smoke mountain, and I tried Magnagora, but to no avail. I kept getting lost.

I remember sitting at the Megalith for probably twenty minutes trying to figure out how to get to Ethereal with it doh.gif I thought I had to go through Ethereal to get to Earth to go grubbing. Then I started to ask for rides up to Earth, and everyone ignored me. Le sigh.

Then I found a Rift to Ethereal, wandered two rooms thinking to find my way to the earth arch thinger that was on the map, and promptly was torn apart by an angry monster.

Somehow, I made it to level 30 on nothing but rats mellow.gif

When Kahazul was head of the Nihilists, he scared the crap out of me. So did Aia. Well, pretty much everyone scared me, I guess.. unsure.gif

And I think at around level 35, I finally figured out that being a trill meant: "Oh yea, holy crap I can fly!" and promptly did a faceplant in the mountains and got a horrible concussion.

My last newbie memory: Getting attacked by a Glomdoring totem when I wandered in by accident. Pentu was nice enough to come heal me! Then as I was leaving... I went the wrong way, came back, got attacked again, and Pentu was nice enough NOT to behead me (not that I didn't ask). Then she flew me away, healed me again, and I teleported home. Teleport nexus ftw! wub.gif
Shyshaeia2006-09-15 13:01:38
Ah yes the newbie days:

When I first came out of the portal I was wandering around Avechna's Peak, I remember I had read some scrolls about lessons and learning. I found myself on the path of the teacher and went into the Cave of Knowledge thinking, "Oh, this is where I learn my skills....now how to learn from this eye thing..."

Collvan came to help me just then, he just became and undersecretary. When he was teaching me how to use blast, he said to try it on him. But having the grace of innocents prevented me from doing so....he had forgotten about that...so then I was off to kill things in Newton.

One time on the highway getting pilgrims, I stumbled into Acknor....When I was asked to leave I suddenly got pissed and almost mouthed of the one asking me to leave enemy territory...yeah, I feel silly now. So for a long time I had a great fear of even taking the highway through Mag after that...so, I took the blasted lands instead.....first death to a gravedigger. I shrugged it off actually not knowing how I died....went through the blasted lands again and died again to a gravedigger. Have not entered them since. (Save for a third time I died there later on).

Im sure I have more stories....

Lets see..

Iii remember being swarmed by Magnagorans, namely Valek, Daevos, and Silvanus, and Arilyon, and being locked down and dragged into the council room. But the last person in forgot to close the door and I was able to escape, only to be caught again, and this time dragged to the Megalith with all the exits blocked. I was killed, and immolated, and then threatened. Luckily for me, I had grace up, and dying had cured all my afflictions.. also, luckily, they forgot that they had an enchanted painting sitting there. I touched it and was whisked away off to Delport, with a horde of Magnagorans on my tail, running around a village I had no idea of.

Somehow I got a far enough lead to use a Catacombs and get to Estelbar... at which point someone walked in and killed me there.. and I returned.. and someone attacked me again but Marcalo (I think?) actually saved me, as he was a Seren at the time. And then Niara got pressured by Daevos to enemy me for hiding in Estelbar.. at which point Auseklis defended me...

I also think I was the first person ever actually killed back to Newton laugh.gif

Ahh.. the days of Furloch. That was some of the best fun I ever had, when everything was new and running around was actually exciting.

That should get his own place in events posts in game. "Little furrikin,Furloch, robbed Magnagora!"
You were furrikin right?
I couldnt belive when you did it.
And i was laughing so hard back then from it.

Yup. I would have continued to play him, but people were taking it OOC, which sort of ruined any enjoyment I got from it. I didn't mind being killed back down below level 10 or any of that. It was when people accused me of just playing Furloch and robbing Magnagora to help my main.. when Furloch was the only character I played.

Was just sort of sad, to have a character I really loved playing, even when he was being beaten to a pulp, degraded like that sad.gif

You had people Acusing me of Furloch being my alt!!

He may not have an event post, but he has a chapter in my history.

I remember the first time I made a character of mine die of getting drunk. It was at the Moonhart mother tree. unsure.gif unsure.gif Someone was nice enough to shove some Vitae down my char's throat.

Newbie days!

I remember my little Serenguard and being utterly confused all the time. It didn't help my novice intro got stuck and I had to ask on Newbie for help sad.gif Spindle came to the rescue and restarted it for me, though.

Wanting to join Terentia's order, but then finding out she had gone inactive. Hunting and hanging out with Raxalin was still fun, though smile.gif

I remember being lost -ALL- the time. No matter what. It didn't matter where I was or how I got there, I never had any clue where I was.

I also remember not knowing how to get to the ethereal plane, and never drawing power.

Oh! Writing a book to win one of Ialie's library contests and actually winning was good, even if my book actually sucked. The funny thing is that it won prestige for Serenwilde later on, after I was Librarian as Val. The irony isn't lost on me biggrin.gif

I remember being friends with Invid, way back when he was the Drunken Druid, and seeing Arix in Serenwilde selling booze tongue.gif

The best memory was being utterly terrified of Glomdoring. Seriously, horrified. When I finally did get into the ethereal plane/faethorn, I would always run as fast as I could through because I thought a crazy Glommie would kill me if they caught me near the archway. I also remember accidentally stumbling into Glom from the mountains and getting shooed out by Josun, who was also scary - Was nice, though, and walked my poor lost self all the way back to Seren!

I thought the summoned stag is in the "Stag" skillset. Whenever I saw a druid less mightier than me riding a stag, I always think "wow, he's high up in stag than me even though I'm mightier". Then I realized (I was around lvl 70 I think) it's somewhere in Druidry which is the first skillset I've transed.
