If a person chooses to be a rogue, are there any neutral hunting areas at all? I'm thinking about it and don't want my character to be enemied to anywhere. I'm not much worried about the skills and a nexus because I no longer intend for her to become involved in pk.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You could always try influencing, which opens up a lot of neutral areas, like Tosha-- just walk in, and if they're alive, influence! Keeps you from getting enemied to that place, can get you some experience... can do it in other places, like with the taurian or igasho tribes which would get you enemied if you attacked them.

I just really really don't want to go back to Achaea just so I can be a rogue...

Well, influencing is a common skillset that everybody can use. You can buy a beauty enchantment, get a Beauty blessing, buy bromides, and that's really all that you need (heck, all you REALLY need are bromides, to be honest). It's the easy method of hunting, and allows you to actually be a complete pacifist if you want your character to roll that way-- never hunt a single thing ever, simply engage them in battles of the mind!
There are neutral areas like the gorgogs which can be attacked, but most other 'true neutral' areas are claimed by some org or another which can make life difficult for actual hunting. Celest doesn't like people killing aslarans or merians, Magnagora watches over Shallach, and so on. The Krokani are open game, however, for influencing or for killing.

There's a good number of areas one can hunt ant not be enemied.
On prime:
Toronada Tidal Flats
Oleandir Valley
Skarch Desert (not mesa or normads though)
Grey Moors
Versavir Valley (spirit wolves only I think)
Snow Valley (sabre tooth cats and mamoths)
Inner Sea (not kelpies, dolphins or turtles) - ask Celest first
Sea of Despair/Spectre Isle (not seawolves) - ask Magnagora first
Bondero Bay
Ballach Swamp
Shallach (only orcs in the upper level) - ask ur'Guard first
Presidio of the Damned (lower levels - aberations and the brainsuckers?) - ask Magnagora first
Lucidian Observatory (lower levels - forgot what's here)
Shallach Catacombs (non Shallch-loyals) - ask Magnagora first
Earth plane (not Earth Lords) - ask Geomancers first
Water place (not Tide Lords) - ask Aquamancers first
Astral
Not sure if I missed anything in there...

You'll have to overlook my lack of knowledge here. But, how does a person get to a different plane, other than prime, without using a nexus?
Unknown2006-09-13 16:40:54
Fight what you want, just don't get caught.
And if it's not loyal (for example nomads and shallach ur'dead are), then screw Celest or whomever. Drink vitae, if they kill you you'll just conglut right away and they won't be able to attack you again.
Just quickly get the corpses and leave in case they bring a friend, because Celest likes to gangbang people like that, being griefers and all.

Short answer: you don't.
Longer answer: If you want to buy $600 worth of credits, you can get a cubix which is an artifact that lets you go to various planes and places on prime, much like those whatchamacallit wings on Achaea. Eagle's wing's I think.

You can use other places' nexuses if you have the appropriate (very high, right next to Transcendent!) skill in Planar.
Tervic2006-09-13 17:45:17
you can also use gateways if someone was nice enough to leave one open on Prime for you.
Unknown2006-09-13 18:01:41
As an influencer, you'll be able to influence whatever the heck you can and want to.
As a hunter, just try to avoid anything that is loyal to some place just in case. You can hunt wherever you want to, but if you are asked to leave, well, do so and give them the essence(if you were bashing earth, water or ethereal if you can) since you won't need those.
If you have Trans Planar, you can sneak on Serenwilde really quickly, just try to use Yesod and they won't notice. That's how I got to water when I wanted to bash as a Celestian (pre Charune). Just sneaked in Serenwilde and walked my way to water or earth if I was feeling daring

Oh yeah. Forgot about those. Not often that I can use one that's on prime these days. Most gateways tend to be somewhat protected though. As long as you don't pis people off, you should be good there.

You can also do quests-if your just looking for xp.
Fight what you want, just don't get caught.

I love how people like to bring things IC and make sure they mention them as often as possible on the OOC forums. And of all people, Celest are the least griefers out there. They aren't allowed by their city laws to steal, kill unjustly, or not give things that drop in combat back.
Just because you DIE, doesn't mean your being GRIEFED. Make sure you can draw the line. Don't complain about fighting and dying-it's part of the GAME

I've always found the practice of "claiming" bashing grounds a little stinky, but when I was recently told that Celest had started chasing people out of Toronada...
Well, I'm completely rooting for Celest in the Celest/Serenwilde war, but that's just wrong. Making it hard on novices to advance post Newton? What should we do next? Start charging a newbie tax, where anyone who hasn't been playing for 2 months has to fork over $500 or get out?
The people responsible for the war aren't the ones being hurt by this. It's the curious new players.

Celest has the fricken Island of Light. I never touched Tornada. I went from newton to isle of light all the way to leeches and starsuckers
Lanko2006-09-13 18:29:07
Celest chasing people out of Toronado? That is pretty sketch. Hopefully if that really is going on, someone in the game will report it to Celest. I've never heard of anyone claiming ownership of Toronado, or even trying to reason that they do. But who knows

Have a friend in the org who's affiliated Plane you wish to visit and follow them up - but make sure you have enough Planar skill to survive on that Plane
Unknown2006-09-13 18:32:06
Jumping people on Prime Plane when they're not in an enemied zone, with the intent of making them pray is griefing. Doubly so if they're not enemied to your organisation.
I saw every org do that, but Celest way more often than others in the last few RL months.
Seen everything of this happen, and I don't know anything about punishment. Maybe it was because Celestians involved were high ranked - who watches the watchmen?

What I was told by Raysicia (I haven't gone there myself in ages) is that Celest had claimed Toronada and was chasing off everyone else. When asked about the policy, Vesar reportedly said that that the were doing it to keep Serenwilders from leveling.
To help Raysi through the level 20-30 range, we took her out on an aetherspace hunt (which is fortunately excellent for that job if you happen to have a decent ship, but obviously not open to everyone).
