What I was told by Raysicia (I haven't gone there myself in ages) is that Celest had claimed Toronada and was chasing off everyone else. When asked about the policy, Vesar reportedly said that that the were doing it to keep Serenwilders from leveling.
See? Griefing, nth degree.

Celest has the fricken Island of Light. I never touched Tornada. I went from newton to isle of light all the way to leeches and starsuckers
...
Isle of light is for quests, not bashing, and is waaay faster than newton. I can get from circle 2-10 in one isle trip.
If you have a buddy with a ship and high aethercraft, they can take you to the higher planes, I think. May be wrong there.
And Celest claiming Toronada? Wow. If some people think they have the right to do that, what's the reasoning behind not claiming the Estengare and the Moon? They connect onto the Sea. Seriously, that sucks. A lot.

Now that really is both greifing and driving newbies away. What kind of high level warrior uses TORONADA to level

I've always found the practice of "claiming" bashing grounds a little stinky, but when I was recently told that Celest had started chasing people out of Toronada...
Well, I'm completely rooting for Celest in the Celest/Serenwilde war, but that's just wrong. Making it hard on novices to advance post Newton? What should we do next? Start charging a newbie tax, where anyone who hasn't been playing for 2 months has to fork over $500 or get out?
The people responsible for the war aren't the ones being hurt by this. It's the curious new players.
I was attacked by someone's ethereal forest druid demesne in the Versavir Valley right after I'd finished the honors quest. I was SO freakin excited I'd solved it - you have no idea. I'm so horrid at riddles. Anyway, I did it and I was still standing at the spot you finish the quest up at and was kind of cheering my own success on the family clan channel when all of a sudden squirrels and birds and things start attacking me. I flew away right quick! But whoever it was, they were at least nice enough to let me finish the quest before attacking me... Cause I'd been in that valley for nearly 2 hours trying to figure it all out and they prolly could have easily driven me out at any time cause of my panic when attacked and my ease of squashedness.

If that's true, that's not cool.

That's an example of Serenwilde griefing, not Celest. Maybe someone, not Noola, somehow misconstrued the facts a little hrm?

That's sad, no one should be specifically targeting low-level members.
@ Cuber: No one does, I remember when their Leader kicked Amaru out for breaking their laws, and he just got his friends to bring him back in. If you are a top fighter and do enough positive things for your org you usually have enough backing so you can break your nations laws when it suits you.
I had to but up against Nars/Munsia in that same light when they were in the seren multiple times, it’s not an easy or happy set of events to set in motion. Also, in the Seren if your in a position to kick people, and wish to do so for valid reasons, you've got (or we had) people crying "dictator!" at us. Well what about the actual dictators, the one's without government positions?

I just told the story to show that perhaps the Celest/Toronda incindent was the same sort of one person thing. And that other people besides Celest does things like that. Then I read that Vesar had reported it was policy to keep young Serenwilders from advancing and added the bit about it not being cool if it's true.
Course, right now, as far as I'm concerned, it's still hearsay. But if it IS true....

Celest doesn't claim Toronada. If someone's defending it, they're acting on their own, not for Celest.

I'm waiting for Vesar to deny the rumor, since it's claimed he said it. You're not leader anymore, Shamarah.

it's not true, I've spoken to Vesar about it. Some people just like to make things up I guess

They aren't allowed by their city laws to steal, kill unjustly, or not give things that drop in combat back.
...Ummm, I am sure Reiha would like all of her thousands of gold worth in corpses back, then. And I am sure Vika would like her 6,000 gold or so back, as well. Not sure where or why she died, as for my character, she was on 'neutral ground', though she is an enemy of everything in Celest except for the Paladins, interestingly enough. I'm pretty sure said person just took my corpses and sold them, as they should have still been there when I went to go look soon after.
And looks like we scared Jessa off

Wait? Could this mean that maybe -- just maybe -- some of those vile, nasty, character-assinating rumors that have been circulating about ME for so long are completely fabricated?
No way. They're too interesting to be made up.
Anyway, Raysicia's frustration was genuine, however unreliable her information, so someone is trying to make like Celest has claimed Toronada, and convincingly enough to persuade a rather saavy young woman. Considering the purpose of the area and the current push to be more newbie friendly, it's something that maybe the admins would like to be aware of.
(*pauses, listening for the sound of a divine throat-clearing*)

I've tried Aardwolf.
Nothing compares to the depth of Lusternia, though, imho. I've tried other muds, I always come back to this one.
Even though this one frustrates me to no end! grr! Oh well.
And I agree with Exarius. Where's an admin when you need one?

The only things Celest protects officially are our planes. Some of our people kill people who bash merians (and I think Terentians do protect merians) but I usually don't bother, it's just not worth the suspect status. And one or two people protect aslarans or Tosha monks or, apparently, the tidal flats.
But we as a city certainly don't protect the tidal flats unless there's been a ninja policy change that was not posted about on Celest, not posted about on TSC, not mentioned while I've been online, and not put in any chelp files.
