I find Sudoku to be quite easy, actually. It's all logic and deduction. Try writing it all down on a piece of paper, rather than attempting it on the screen. If you can cross out stuff and write in possibilities in the squares the puzzles are much easier.
Uh... note that me saying that the one he was doing was VERY EASY, which means that there was no need whatsoever for even trying to do it on paper...

I loved the rockeater quest. It was simple, makes you think a little, but not too much, and was tremendous fun pushing the rockeaters!

It's fun until people realize the trick to it that makes it doable in less than 30 seconds LITERALLY.

There's a trick? My rockeater runs usually take about a minute (even with mapping)
Narses2006-09-17 10:04:06
the biggest issue, I feel at least, is that quests need to be re-doable. I can think of tons of interesting ideas for a singular quest but if it is too complicated, no one is likely to want to do it again, and if it's too simple... it's plain silly. well, I'll try and think of something anyways
Narses.

The sudoku thing is easy, right up until Shamarah walks in and starts putting letters in at random because "it's no fun if you just use logic!"

Dear Estarra,
Why is the Ghost Wolves/Taurian Hunter's quest bugged? I helped my friend in that quest and we were in the part were we have to have the jar filled with the blood of the grey wolf, she didn't recieve anything despite what I saw: "Rynak, the taurian shaman gives a simple glass jar."

Bad idea to even mention it... now more people are going to try and figure it out.
Edit: Oh, and people need to seriously stop blanking names for no ing reason.

honestly? some of the quests are just annoying... Stewertsville and Acknor for instance, Paavik too. They require zero thought and reading and poking everything you can see in a room... and how are things hidden? by being written in white.
It's just time consuming.
But I am sure there are other, more interesting ones.
Why zero thought? There is a logic puzzle you have to figure out. Some people really love solving the Stewartsville murder mystery as we've had a lot of compliments on it. And yes you have to poke around to find items but how else would you hide them in a text world? Certainly just having all the items lying around in a room in plain sight would just make the quest ridiculously easy.
The thing about quest design is that not all quests appeal to all people. And unless we don't mind having quests solvable in seconds, we have to come up with ways for players to work at quests that usually involve bashing mobs or influencing mobs or finding hidden items or solving puzzles. In other words, you have to QUEST to finish it. Inevitably, that means most quests are going to involve some sort of time consuming aspect. In my opinion, I feel that Lusternia has been quite innovative in its quests and we continually try to push the envelope.
True, if you don't like the "grind" of bashing or searching for items or influencing mobs or talking to mobs, you will hate quests in Lusternia and think they are annoying. But there are those who find it challenging and enjoy them and it is for those people for whom quests are made. Just like areas with heavy bashing are made for those who like to bash.
If there is a bug in quests, we would like to know about it. Could someone bug whatever "trick" it is that is making the rockeater quest so easy? Also, I don't recall seeing a bug reported in the Ghost Wolves quest so we can't fix something that we don't know about. Don't assume we know, bug it!

Sudoku isn't all THAT bad. The one time I was there and watching Ixion do it, at least, it was a VERY EASY puzzle.
Sudoku makes my head hurt.
And I find the honors quests spectacularly difficult. But I'm horrid at quests. Which means when I do solve one I'm literally over the moon about it. So far, I've solved two honors quests and I couldn't be prouder of myself honestly. It's kind of annoying when people go 'Psssh... These quests are SO EASY! They can be done in 30 seconds!' Cause to me they're NOT easy and I can't do them in 30 seconds.
Then I take a step back and remind myself that most of the people saying things like that probably aren't meaning to infer that I'm not all that bright and they're just better questers than me and I shouldn't take things so personally.
And I'm glad they're so hard. I might whine while I'm doing it and wish it were easier while I'm doing it, but when I finally, after hours of work and frustration and cussing at the screen, figure it out and finish it, the sense of satisfaction is awesome.
So Yay for the quests!

Done, but it isn't a bug.
I will also point out that, with enough experience, the Stewartsville quest can be done in one minute and thirty seconds, and the Paavik quest can be done in even less time (assuming you start the quest at the right time of day). These times aren't exagerations, I remember timing myself in the past when I quest rabbited for gold. I also remember doing the Paavik quest as fast as humanly possible during a revolt when we needed the ghosts gone ASAP. It took ~20 seconds, but I was lucky with item placements.
The Dwarf King quest isn't so easy, since not only is it a competitive quest, if you aren't a Glomdorian, you have to raid the Glomdoring Forest to do it. The Shanthmark quest requires much more thought, and the Estelbar quest, though easier than the Shanthmark quest, still has a logic puzzle to solve. Delport is interesting - I've only done it once, since it's a bit irritating with the clues, and I can't shortcut my way to the quest items through influence like I can in Estelbar or Shanthmark I've never done the Acknor or Angkrag quests, so I can't say anything about them.
I'm fond of the Tome of Rememberance quest, since it is difficult to figure out the first time, and it isn't trivial to do even if you know it entirely, since Magnagorans have a good reason to bash many denizens needed for the quest for their basic power quest.
The Gorgog quest seemed extremely involved and interesting, though I never had the chance to do it in it's entirety.
Personally, I'm most fond of quests like the Cankermore quest, which don't take trvial time, even if you know how best to do them, and are a cut away from the norm, and involve some interesting new mechanic/idea.
.. And that's my feedback for now.
Sylphas2006-09-17 20:09:09
I could write a script to run me through the Estelbar quest in under a minute, not counting the time it takes to beg. It's only hard if one of the clues ends up missing, which happens every once in a while.

No clue is ever missing, but there is one clue that 90% of the people who do the quest don't know about.
Sylphas2006-09-17 20:55:14
Trundle sometimes gives me one, sometimes doesn't. I've only had to guess once, and I had a 50% chance of getting it right (and did), but it's damnably annoying anyway.
