Yes, I did have demesne, but it was going off/on because of annoying love potion.
Omgwtf ow?
For the record: I had greatrobes and barkskin up, along with a bunch of nature vines just so I can heal myself. I shudder to think how in the world I can still manage to do even that, much less cure my wounds. Help? For the record, Hartstone, level 63 furrikin.
Edit: For the record, Someone is a taurian pureblade who completely handed my arse to me.
Edit Edit: Another record, the fight hardly lasted 20 seconds. Not counting setting up demesne. XD

Cleaving through your defenses, Someone makes a slow deadly strike at your chest
with a dragon-hilted claymore. The blade bounces off your sternum, delivering
only a shallow puncture.

I don't remember the exact name of the ability, but there is an ability in Pureblade that, for a power cost, goes right through defenses to deliver an attack.
Genos2006-09-16 17:30:42
Honestly? You should be around level 80 before starting combat with Warriors. Also, are you trans Resilience or Combat?

It's called Cleave, but it doesn't take any power. It's like raze, but it goes straight through to an attack.

Okay, here we go:
1. You need at least 3000 health to have chances in a fight. Not against warriors, against anyone.
2. Stancing, parrying, smoke faeleaf etc. But I think you know that. There are two things for pureblades that pass through defenses:
A. Assault. It additionaly gives more wounding, BUT it costs 4 power. So they can't use it that often, and you should be able to heal yourself - healing, sparkleberry, healing scroll (all with triggers) and you're fine.
B. Cleave. That's what it happened here. It's like a normal attack but bypasses defenses AND takes double the time. In this case, he won't have his balance back for <8 seconds>. That's a lot and gives you plenty of time to heal up and counterattack.
3. Best defense against two-handers - if you get pounded too heavily, shield up. Assault doesn't go through shield (circle or pentagram), normal hits don't, only Cleave does. It significantly slows down the enemy's offense (if they want to raze, they'll have speed and/or faeleaf to remove too, plenty of time to re-do the defenses), giving you time to heal up, wounds and damage.

You're a Druid. He's a Warrior.
The solution?
Run.
(use your greater mobility)

It sounds like sarcastic advice, but it's not. You're a druid. Until you hit titan, there's no standing toe-to-toe against high strength warriors. You hinder like mad, rely obsessively on your demesne, get your sap off as soon as you think there's an outside chance it won't be cleansed straight off, and you get your lock going.
Revan2006-09-16 23:48:11
Why the hell is the name edited out? O_o
Unknown2006-09-16 23:53:58
Aye, warriors aren't supposed to be able to hinder well, so you should be able to keep moving around and taking that time to heal up before running back into the fray. Use the tree/ground elevation to keep out of reach if you need to, and use briars to slow your enemy down if they try to follow.
No matter what warriors try to tell you, don't try to tank a warrior attack or fight them like other classes. Running around might get them calling you cowardly, but it's also using your advantages intelligently.

Also, if you're Hartstone, don't under-estimate Bolting. You'll automatically sprint away in a random direction when they enter, whether they're shrouded or not. Very handy, especially if you add some triggers to immediately afflict. And with briars in between you, even if they follow immediately, you'll have time to recover balance/equilibrium and run on your own and continue to frustrate the hell out of them.

I don't know if I'd use that all the time... random sprinting can be dangerous because it's quite likely you'll sprint right out of your demesne, or possibly even into a dangerous group or area. It also doesn't work in the tree elevation last I checked.
But you're right that in some cases it can be handy, particularly for defending Serenwilde and Faethorn.

Geb has a massively artied sword (assuming that's who it was, I can't think of any other taurian PBs). It hurts.
Furien2006-09-17 01:29:00
Nah, not Geb. Ebonguard.
But I guess I see the point. Thanks for the advice. Shame I can't get credits until the first of next month (5 days from my birthday! Squee!) so I can trans druidry. I've only got cudgel right now.

Get sap and you win
....
Okay, it's not quite that easy
Exeryte2006-09-18 00:32:07
Perhaps Hyrtakos or Celir...I made them both dragon-hilted claymores rather recently.

It is true. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case for me. I do some damage and some bleeding unless I amputate a limb. I do admit that I amputate limbs pretty frequently though.

I guess when you need a hand, you just take one.
