Harhar. I may be an ass, but I try to maintain at least a shred of dignity in some respect.
You know I was just joking.....
Or was I.

Just rereading Skyla's post..Im suddenly glad Gregori is gone, and yet at the same time Im not sure anymore if I like the idea of being a Mes'ard. I cant be adopted for some strange reason still , we think its the engagement even though its gone through with them before. Just sad some of the things we run into.
Would you like to be a Talnara? We have a very supportive and loving family!

QUOTE(Skyla @ Sep 18 2006, 03:42 AM) 332701
From the start, the Mes'ard family was founded with the intent of being a strong noble family. It was mainly (and I believe it still is?) comprised of leaders within their communities. There was an important time before you considered a child where you explained to them that the Mes'ard family is as such. If they were to get married it was highly encouraged that the family member do the proposing, to make the family stronger.
While you can argue it is unfair in relationships to be told what to do, it is also unfair to the family to agree to be considered and then be contrary to the family model. If you don't like it, the answer is quite simple. Go chase after a different family.
If Gregori ever returned he would be ashamed to learn that the family we worked hard to promote thinks being insane is cute. There was a time when the only insanity was in Ixchilgal's twisted side of the family and rightly so.
Stop making a mockery of the Mes'ard name.
At first, I thought that I might refrain from making an answer to this because I thought that it would upset me... but, here I am, and perfectly rational while at it.
Yes, a good amount of Mes'ards claim insanity and can tend to be a bit goofy at times. But many of those same members also hold important positions within the Wilde and its guilds, and take those positions seriously. And all of these members, as Dy stated, are severely loyal.
This topic was meant to be a spot of enjoyment, something to make people laugh and post other funny bits - to enjoy themselves. But there were a few serious comments to make. Yes, I made a jab at the obsession of the family to make sure that they bring in more members by being the ones to propose. I also stated that Linwe may not actually marry out of the family. She's not even close the getting engaged. So that's a non-issue for the time being.
So the Mes'ard clan can be a bit goofy at times. Big deal. There's nothing wrong with joking around in times where seriousness is not required. It shows that we have heart, and keeps our fellow communemates close to our hearts - like an extended family. Our ability to garner loyalty from our friends speaks of a different sort of strength - one that does not rely on loyalty out of pure obligation or fear.
So Linwe has not found a position within her guild or the Wilde, and can be a bit goofy and free-spirited. But that does not mean she ignores the call of the Wilde to help in its defense, despite the fact that she is not a fighter and does not prefer fighting, it does not mean that she will never seek a position and take it seriously. But in many ways, including or excluding her age, she is young to Lusternia. So while she may be cracking jokes and poking fun at her family's ways - she is working to better herself because being in such a family inspires her to do so, and defending the reasoning behind her family's ways.
In the end, despite all the differences amongst the Mes'ards - whether they be elf, furrikin, faeling, trill, human... be from the forest or a city... be goofy or serious... hold a high position, small position, or none at all... we are all loyal to our family. And I think THAT makes a great family, and is not something that can be broken because people say "Oh, those silly Mes'ards".

Dude. Would it help to add that all the d'Illicis are related to the Mes'ards as well?
Except Ash, he always has periods of being disowned.

Aha, and if you're going to include once-family-connections even if they were never official ... Bau Sayelle (sister of Skyla Sayelle who married Gregori Mes'ard, who had the beginning pack of us) was once, I believe, Vix's mother until Vix disowned the association. Vix is now with Nejii Talanara, making the entire Talnara family a sub-branch from one of the extended connections. *sagenod*
I'm still clueless about my disowned father.
If it was Hiriako, then that's a bit wrong since now he's like an in-law. Chade came after I disowned I think, and I forgot Bau's first husband. Bit confused.
