Does someone want to explain the family system to me? I get what most of these letters and whatnot mean, but not all. For example:

QUOTE
THE TALNARA FAMILY
Active Family Members: 11
Inactive Family Members: 2
Progenitors:
Founder: (A) Nejii Talnara
Founder: (A) Azora Talnara
(I) Tias
(A) Vix Talnara
The First Generation:
(A) Elysiana Talnara
(A) Elin Talnara
(A) Salohcin Talnara
(A) Seline Talnara
(A) Hiriako Talnara
(A) Sarrasri Talnara
(A) Eilaera Talnara
The Second Generation:
(A) Shaddai Talnara
(I) Shiida

or

QUOTE
THE PEULUS FAMILY
Active Family Members: 6
Inactive Family Members: 1
Progenitors:
Founder: (A) Soll Peulus
Founder: (A) Ekard Peulus
(A) Catarin Peulus
(I) Narsrim
The First Generation:
(A) Sipelus Peulus
(A) Metea Peulus
(A) Ari Peulus

What do the letters mean? And am I to assume that Nejii and Azora founded the Talnaras as brother and sister or...I'm oh so confused.

M = married
D = divorced
B = born
A = Active
I = Inactive

So, Nejii and Azora formed it as brother and sister, and Nejii Married Vix.
Hiriako was born a Myeras, but married Elysiana, so he became a Talnara through that marriage.

And Inactive means they were part of the family at one point, but either quit it, or got divorced, or married into another family.

The (A) and (I) stand for Active and Inactive.

means the parents were name1 and name2.
means the person married name1.
means the person married name1, but was then divorced.
means that person was born as part of the name1 family, but married into the current family.

Oh, totally ninja'd.

See I had always assumed you needed to be married to found a family. That's awesome, thanks.

Progenitors: - the first people in the family, married/bloodbonded to form the family name. It includes their spouses if any.
Founder - the two people who initially formed the family at the hall of records

First Generation: The children of the Progenitors

Second Generation: The grandchildren of the Progenitors

Third Generation: The great grandchildren of the Progenitors

: child being considered for the family.
: Rejected their family name.

a: - Active Member
b: - Born as (if they had a family name prior to marriage A.K.A. maiden name)
d: - Divorced from
i: - Inactive (due to marrying into another family, becoming inactive as a player, divorcing from the family, or rejecting the family)
m: - Married to
p: Parents are

Example:

(A) Elysiana Talnara

Elysiana is an Active member of the Talnara family. She married Hiriako. Her parents are Azora and Tias.

(A) Hiriako Talnara

Hiriako is an Active member of the Talnara family. He was born as a Myeras, meaning he married into the Talnaras and his maiden name is Myeras. He married Elysiana.

smile.gif Maybe all that should be added to the help file? Or am I the only one thick enough to pick up all that naturally...

I think it's pretty self explanatory, but more info couldn't hurt. dunno.gif

Also, inactive can mean you've not -constantly- been around at one point or another. Maybe you went on hiatus for a month or two, a year ago, but you'll still be shown as inactive today. I really wish there was a way for inactive people to become active again, but it doesn't seem like there is.

I wish there was a way to found a family with three siblings.

Argh, I need to stop before I start foaming at the mouth.

And let me adopted through this engagement, it used to work! sad.gif

Could someone please explain this line from the Mes'ard tree?

(I) Dakine
Unknown2006-09-22 06:37:40
Divorced a character who has suicided, maybe?
Tsuki2006-09-22 07:10:17
Correct. Dakine married Adrienne, daughter of Kiarlea and Klia, and she suicided. sad.gif

I don't believe, though I might be mistaken, that they ever actually divorced. Guess it counts "once married, but no longer" as being "divorced" (nothing for poor widows/widowers). But then there's not a character to reference any longer, so it's blank.
Saran2006-09-22 07:24:34
mmkay, I can finish off the tree then

EDIT: Alrighty, my family tree is completed, included divorces... there are alot of people in the extended family
