What I actually meant was that the skills for gaining power as a rogue are outside the reach of someone who doesn't have tons of credits to blow. First, it takes 356 lessons of Planar to learn Link. Next, it takes 1148 more lessons of Planar to learn Nexus to get to Astral where the nodes are. Someone who is without guildskills will have no way to survive or slay the agressive Astral mobs that are spawned every time you draw power and hit for over 4,000 health.
Thus, for all intents and purposes, rogues have no consistant source of power.

It leave rogues wiht draining lost cities nodes or buying power from poeple.

I didn't know that a "link" skill exists. I thought everybody has it. You just need a nexus/node to link to.

Everyone can link to his commune/city nexus. but to link to wild node on astral you need link in planar.
Not sure about lost cities nodes, but i think you can link to it just fine.

My above post was completely wrong. It has been corrected.
I had confused energylink with planar link again x_x

I just wanted to say that so far I'm having a lot of fun! I died twice to a snake in Magnagora while leading pilgrims, but I've more than made up for that loss. I've met a lot of really nice people in my travels, Rhosyn being one of them, and she made sure to tell me what places to avoid, so I really appreciate that. I hope neither of the cities or Serenwilde mind me bringing scholars to their libraries. I would take some to Glomdoring, but I was told to stay away from there. Anyway, thanks for all the help, and I hope to be able to do some actual roleplaying with folks, soon.

They'll love you if you give them power and culture. Except Glom, they just dont like people in their forest.

Another question! What should I get if I want to explore watery areas? I can tread water, but I notice that every time I move to a new place, I gag and splutter. I'd like to explore the Inner Sea and rivers. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Buy Waterbreathe for underwater stuff, and buy Waterwalk overall. Waterwalk is just awesome and time saving. Theyre both enchantments, youll need an Elemental enchanter and a Cosmic Enchanter though. The latter is pretty rare, but you should be able to find one if youre unaffiliated. Youll also need seperate jewelry pieces to put them on, rings'll do, they can hold up to 10 charges and you can recharge them easily at a shop that owns a cube.

enviroment teaches swimming or you can get waterwalk and waterbreathing engchantments.
Also don't forget powerplex gems.. plall the power you will ever want.

I played Typhus for a really, really long time, and he is the oldest known Geomancer rogue in existance. The teleport skill in planar is your friend, although it can eat power, which is your _most precious commodity_ as a rogue. Cows, Pilgrims, even scholars for a friendly city are good experience and gold, and you can still do org quests, you might just have to ask the org for permission. Ususally, they are all for you helping them out to help yourself. Get a Rift, and become friends with a jeweler, as enchantments only needed to be cast once on a ring or bracelet and then you can recharge it yourself at shops. Also, if it helps, be a jeweler yourself. If you don't have any Guild skills, I would concentrate on Influencing and Environment, Influencing for the exp, Environment for opening up new areas. Be careful about making enemies, as you don't really have anyone to watch your back, and especially watch out for the planes, as if you go there, it might be harder for you to get back home.

How does Environment open up new areas?

In THEORY, sewers and diving give you access to new areas, but in practice, they really aren't worth the absurd numbers of lessons you need for those.

Also you need to scale up in mountains to get to Igashos camp.

I love that. I'd like to see more areas cut off from normal travel in a similar manner. Though perhap Igasho should get an innate Mountaineering ability? That'd be nifty.

I've always thought this too.
