I've just bought great robes with stats:
Cutting 51
Blunt 48
Protected against fire and magic
I have several questions Are they good? They have a hood, how do I put it on? I've read they don't add influence but I look opulent with them, and prosperous without. And I can't wear trousers or shirts while wearing them. Is it normal?
Thanks!

99 for stats on greatrobes isn't too bad. Best I've seen is 110, and I think I've seen in the low 90s as well.
As for the clothing layers, yes, you can't wear pants and shirts. You can still wear under/overwear like boxers, cloaks, etc... as well as shoes or boots or other things. RAISE HOOD raises the hood, and is important for protection, even though I always forget to do it.

I'm not too sure, but I believe you can wear both, if you put them on before the robe.

Tiran... greatrobes don't get that high, I am quite sure of that.

Yeah they do. I've seen one around 110 total. Revan's, weren't they? Pretty sure he didn't have splendor, Revan doesn't strike me as a tailor.

I was there and watched a Aia enchanted them. Was for some Serenwilder, Sarrassi maybe? I suppose it's possible that I made a mistake and got it off by 10, but I know that my own previous set was 103 (60/43), and have seen at least another at 105.
Edit: Yeah, 110 would be low for splendor robes. I think mine are high 120s/low 130s, but I can't get on to check right now.

heh so say the two different stats guys. What he means is theres no way you have a 105/103 robe
I have a 53/46, its 'average' I suppose. Not the best but most certainly not the worst set.

The best I've seen for greatrobes is 53/55, and those were Kalo's. The average is about 96 total (48/48), so I consider anything around 100 combined to be fairly good. Anything 104+ is exceptional.
My splendor robes are 65/70, and my last pair was 68/70.

I think Ekard has 69/53(?) robes I enchanted for him. Not sure if they were splendor robes.
Ekard2006-09-26 20:23:33
Hmm really nice stats but you didnt enchanted splendor robes for me.
And i cant remeber stats on those robes that you enchanted and now those robes have some young Aquamancer i have found first one without robes and gaev it to him after i get Splendor.
So if they really were so good then he should be really happy.

You shouldn't be too worried about the stats. Armor only reduces like a third or so of physical damage, and about 2% of 33% of the damage you take usually doesn't amount to much.

Laneth currently owns 56/52 greatrobes, so yeah they can push 110 .
Laxinova2006-09-27 04:11:51
Currently wearing 56/54 great robes which is 110 so they can I guess.
Narses2006-09-27 04:22:51
they key-word here is -total-. I thought he meant 110 in cutting or blunt.... like: 110/110

Ha! People wish No, we're all talking total.
Tekora2006-09-27 04:30:40
Tekora had 63/48 robes before I retired him from combat.
Edit: Cost a lot to make them. I paid 16,000 for the base robes, enchantment was 3000, proofing was 1200, and they'd been mended 3 times. So yeah, big investment. I gave them to my daughter.
Edit-Edit: I think the base price of the robes has an impact on max stats. I've seen the same thing in comparison of cheap forging designs and expensive designs. Cheap Rapier = 225 speed max/Expensive Rapier = 240+ max.

Damage reduction in % is about half of your robes stats .
So if you have robes 50/50 then they will reduce something like 25% cuttting and blunt damage. Not sure about wounds. I think its a bit higher rate but i didnt test it.
And making good robes is much harder and much more expensive then making good weapon or armour. you can smelt weapon, get comms back and forge until you get stats that you like. You cant do same with robes and you need at least 2 people for robes. Tailor to make them and enchanter to enchant them.

66.(6)% of a stat is its wounding reduction. It's more than damage reduction, because armour is the only defense that affects wounding.

Just 'cause I feel like bragging ... I've had 54/57 robes since novicehood and been mending them carefully ever since. So, 111! Got them in a shop for less than 20000 gold. I just got 62 cutting robes with very poor blunt, though, and I think those may actually be more useful most of the time. (Thanks go to my favourite tailor. )
Shryke2006-10-05 06:19:40
Bah, diamante was gonna give those to me!
