Except that the IC route was horribly planned. The Shadow Court acted in a completely logical way.. and yet none of the Admin saw it coming? It really just shows why the administration usually fails at "fixing" things.. because they really don't know the orgs that they're dealing with. And that is why them forcing themselves to be a part of it usually ends badly.
Ummm....
I am being told different facts than you...
There was no problem untill a public post was written saying that Viravain is not viravain... which wasn't true.
Lots of things happen without people making public posts and getting Ic gods angry.

BIG problem.. not all admin are created equal.
This admin brought you warrior balancing.
Ok, cheap shot, but still. I'm not saying completely non-involvement. I'm saying that we need space. Top-down policy decisions only work where the top is intimately involved with the bottom. I'm fairly certain this isn't the case here, judging from the IC conversations.

I agree.
I am not taking sides here... many things went wrong, but I don't buy this argument that the "admin" are idiots and the players "know all"
I'm pretty upset about this "summit" I'd much rather the changes all happen Icly and discussions happen Icly as possible.

Sorry I don't have time to go through all the posts so for. I voted for Glom for be neutral, though my idea of neutral is probably a lot darker and more in keeping with the current dark atmosphere of the place.
IF Viravain is killed, it would be awesome to have her fragment into a new race. Wyrdlings? Viravainians? My two cents. Now I have to go.

When it comes to the workings of the orgs.. its true.. The Admin have proven it time and time again with every change they put Serenwilde through. They always took the wrong approach. Personally, I think there needs to be a new position, similar to envoys, but secret, and used to actually let the Administration know what's going on... cause this guess & assume approach is clearly not working.

Reading over what's been recently said so far and slowly munching it down, I'm just wondering what's been happening behind the scenes with Glom, because that may be what's making some people have very different opinions then others:
Okay, so Glomdoring has been around around 1 year, and in that time...
i) A problem was starting to develop but players didn't notice it.
or
ii) A problem was being noticed, players knew about, but have not been able to fix it (fast enough)
or
iii) A problem was starting to develop and players -did- notice it, but couldn't do anything about it because their RP/Gods/whatever other factors didn't allow them too.
or
iv) The problem has only become significant recently and the admin are taking radical actions too soon.
or
v) There really is no problem.
Did I miss any other options? =/ Hope it's not too confusing.

Viravain should become the new Isune. :-)
Actually, Fallen has a good idea. I dunno, maybe a private board for the administrators might be a good thing. It could be a read-only thing, just to alert either one community or all of some things. It could be used to do something like this:
FROM: Estarra.
TO: Serenwilde
SUBJECT: Upcoming Plot--Don't Panic.
This is to notify the Serenwilde leaders that we are implementing some changes that will affect the Serenwilde's organization, in the form of the plot affecting some of the Divine and the totality of Faethorn. This might seem to be traumatic for some, but this will lead to some changes, and we ask the administration to cooperate and roll with it. Quick frankly, this is needed to improve game balance, and the current RP setup by the Moondancers is a bit inflexible for the game's purposes.
We are also implementing a new skill at the end of this, which is intended to be used by everybody. We won't reveal what it is, but--while it might seem a little odd for a commune to have this skill, we have intended it for use by all players and we do not want any organizations banning this skill.
Something like that might help things. I'd hate to ruin immersion but we could say that the guild and community leaders need a little OOC heads up sometimes.
I don't think player should dictate plots to the Divine, and I sometimes think RP will involve a little pain, losing, and etc. But maybe this will help.

Sorry, skimmed through most of the stuff, I'm at work, and that's a lot of reading in one break.
I'm a bit biased, but I think that -part- of the problem started at the beginning. Some of us felt railroaded a year ago. There was the Disciples of Crow, the Summer Court, and a few other organizations. Basically, it was "let's raise crow and turn Glomdoring evil!" and "let's put pretty flowers all around the forest!" We must have had 100 people involved in said organizations, months of roleplay, and then BAM, an insane goddess who kicked out anyone who didn't fit in (including me!).
I don't know what should be done, but Glomdoring -must- have a more open mind to allow for the organization to grow. That includes Fain supporters and hermits, mind you. However, the problem is, now, Glomdoring -is- Viravain. Nil, let -me- kill her, Richter's ticked enough about being booted. Or let Kaervas kill her, or all those people that (icly!) really, really don't like her. Since she is Glomdoring, and Glomdoring is too restrictive, something major needs to happen to the character, and Glomdoring needs to be a bit more friendly.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, we need a wild card. If it isn't going to be me, let it be Glomdoring. Screw illusions of neutrality, forge a damn alliance with Serenwilde, and go upset the balance of the Basin, or something. Nil, maybe you could even kill Viravain, and Crow would turn into Raven, we'd keep the Wyrd, but a few small changes would be made.
I know you know this, but I'll reiterate for some people, that a bit more player friendly = a more successful organization.
Also, PS, as a "founder" of Glomdoring, and somewhat of an older/well-known player, I'd like to ask Your permission to attend tonight.
Thanks for listening.

Honestly, I thought Glomdoring was damned from the start. I'm mildly surprised it's been able to keep it together for this long.

Because when we tried that we got responses that Glomdoring's RP will be ruined and that quality will be sacrificed for quality. In other words, we aren't jumping to conclusions, we are responding to what has happened.
I'm sorry if that's what you thought we were saying, Estarra. As I plan to open the meeting with tonight... that is not at ALL what we believe. We *know* that change is required, and we, like you, *are* interested in seeing the Glomdoring grow.
We just seem to have a disagreement on where some of the issues that are preventing it from growing are. Hopefully we can discuss this.

Stop picking on Estarra. Goodness knows she's trying to sort it out. And she apologised up-front, and repeatedly, in the face of rudeness. Give her a break. So there was a mistake made, she's trying to sort it out now. And just look back at all the work she's done. I think she needs a hug.
(Estarra: Male or female? Hope I didn't offend using she!)

Enough with the bloody Admin bashing already...
Estarra screwed up. We all do. We're human. We screw up. But why not instead of just saying "AWWWW! Estarra!!! You screwed up!! Now what??? Estarra really screwed up!!" why don't you just look forward, and sit down with her later today and iron out these issues.
Jeez.

This might be slightly off-topic, but as I've been watching this go on during the afternoon, an idea for an event began to build up in my mind and I just want to get it down in writing.
***
Something happens that causes Castle Djarrakh to bust wide open, releasing whatever's down there, I'm presuming it's Kethuru taint left over from the Taint Wars, as that's what Tshura implies. It descends on Glomdoring and wreaks havoc. Over the course of the next few days, Glomdoring is under siege, and whatnot as we try to fight back against the Thing. People decide that maybe the Arthur'rt Observatory might have the ability to beat the Thing with their Taint-killing machine. (Finally giving people a reason to get over their moral barrier and finish the quest) We finish the quest and as the final preparations are being made, the Thing tries to stop us. Then we could have an all-out brawl, with anyone who cares to fight, as well as the Divine, fending off the Kethuru Thing. (Think about it! Actually fighting alongside the Divine! How cool would that be?!)
In the end, the device finishes (provided Magnagora doesn't interfere like they did with Gorgulu and Fae), Djarrakh is cleansed, possibly opening a new bashing area, and Glomdoring, left in ruins, is ready to rebuild itself as it sees fit. How big a part Viravain plays in the reconstruction is variable as we see fit.
***
Again, this is just a loose idea I had in my head and I'm happy I got it in writing. Thoughts?

Because I have not been willing to even look at Gloriana as an option I realize I am quite ignorant on tsomething here...
Can someone explain what "Gloriana" Looks like? What is it? How is it different to Glomdoring currently?

I would like this question to be asked as well. I honestly believe that Glomdoring as is now, Wyrded and all, gives a good impression on what Gloriana was, save that it is just heavily darker.
Unknown2006-09-26 00:14:41
Gloriana was about Wisdom and studying subtleties of the world around and beyond.
Glomdoring is quite a bit different than that.
