Hi, I'm still in novicehood so I haven't bought anything yet, but I'm unsure what kind of stuff I should be getting down the track. I can't be expected to wear my grey tunic and trousers forever!
I'm a faeling blacktalon druid.
I figure I can stick with my talisman, but what about armour? Jewellery? And enchants? Is there some kind of guide I can look at where there is a list of this kind of stuff? Please forgive me if I missed some post that's blatantly obvious...
Thanks for any help in advance.

Armor: enchanted greatrobes, because normal ones (which you can buy in some shops, for example Exarius's) have 12/12 armour. Well, I guess they can still be enchanted.
Also, if you want to engage in PvP, buy a shield and learn up to ShieldParry in Combat. Otherwise, you'll be immediately wasted by enemy warriors. But I guess that's for the future.
Other things: enchantments go on rings, necklaces, brooches, bracelets, crowns/tiaras. The rest of jewellery is just for looks. Useful enchantments are: waterwalk, levitation, mercy (hp regeneration), kingdom (auto-clotting), perfection (mana regeneration), beauty (ego regeneration), diminish (for PvP) and enlarge (for PvP, not necessary). Also since you probably don't have a scrying skill, either Scry or Window - both work the same.
Healing items: for PvE, you don't need everything. If you want to engage in PvP, it's best to have at least 1 of each types of vial and 20 of each herb (aside from the useless ones, like rosehips or merbloom).
Most useful healing items: healing potions, mana and bromide potions, mending salves (cures broken limbs), allheale (cures 1 affliction), vitae, pennyroyal.
There should be a guide like this somewhere in the GHELP files of your guild. If there isn't - shame on them.

Thanks awfully, you've helped a lot! Can certain enchantments only go on certain items or can I pick whatever enchant on whatever item? And is there any average price for these things? Or is it completely up to who I talk to? I don't wanna get cheated out of a lot of gold!

Enchantments: each type goes on every type of jewellery, but it varies in charges. For example, there're only 10 charges on a ring, 20 on a bracelet but 40 on a brooch. When you use an enchantment, you consume one charge - you have to recharge it later from a cube in a shop (HELP CUBES).
Those health/mana/ego regen and clotting enchantments require charges too, because you have to rub them in order to get their defense - it lasts until you quit.
On prices:
Robes - enchanting them costs 2000-3000 gold, but the price on robes is completely random. If you're lucky, you can get them as low as 3000, but they can cost even 10000-15000 and more.
Enchantments - from 25 to 40 gold per charge.
Potions - a vial costs 250-300 gold, most potions shouldn't cost more than 350 gold (most popular like healing are even cheaper - 250, maybe). The more expensive ones are vitae, allheale and quicksilver.
Herbs - most cost about 10-15 gold per one. Sparkleberry, horehound and wormwood cost more. I'd pay about 35 per sparkleberry, no more than 25 per one of the others.
PIPES! I forgot about pipes - you need 3, because 3 of the herbs are smoked (faeleaf, coltsfoot, myrtle - they have effects when eaten too, but they're different). Pipes shouldn't cost more than 200 for normal pipes, 500-750 for artisan pipes (last longer). You also need a tinderbox - shouldn't cost more than 200 gold.
No idea about shields, but they're design-dependant. Each design has the same potential, but they use up different commodities, so costs vary.

More questions!
Do the enchants stack? Say I got perfection on a ring and robe, or it that pointless?

You can't enchant a robe with perfection. When people talk about enchanting robes it's different from enchantments on rings and things, unless I've seriously missed something over the last two years.
But no hey don't stack afaik.

The enchantment on the item doesn't actually give you the effect. You have to RUB it, and then it gives you a defence (casts the spell on the item) and burns off one charge. Since it gives a defence, it can't stack.

I wouldn't suggest learning any combat yet, for shieldparry. Throw five lessons in for weaponprobe, maybe, but combat is more a luxury than a neccessity.

Unless you want to fight in PvP against warriors. But you really shouldn't engage in serious PvP until you're at least level 70 or above, so you won't need it that soon.
Liselle2006-09-30 07:59:52
Well I don't plan on doing any PvP for a long time. I'm only level 29. I just got some greatrobes today, how do I tell what the stats on them are? I've seen people talk about xx/xx in relation... Also, what is the enchant that goes on a robe? Is there a specific one?
Thankies

One is protection against blunt and the other is cutting damage. Enchanting robes gives you these stats. Proofings are done by tailors, who can either put: magic, fire, cold, or electricity - but only two. Don't forget to RAISE HOOD when you get one - I never did that until I hit level 55 or so

You have to weaponprobe robes. Its skill in Combat, 5 or 7 lessons from Inept.
And you can put 2 proffings on robes.
Proofings are: fire, electric, magic and cold resistances.
you can also wear cloak and coat on top of robes and you can have 1 proofing on each so you can have all 4 proofings. On cloak and coats you cant put magic and electric resistances so its best to put those 2 on robes and fire and cold proffings on coat on cloak.

Weaponprobe was 3 lessons from inept, last I checked.

You can't stack regen from enchantments, but there are a few regeneration things right now.
As an example, I can have racial regeneration (from whatever race I want to be that day, that has regeneration), I can have enchantments, you can have artifact regeneration (my crown has artifact runes that let me do that), and some skills, like the athletics regeneration skill will also let you do that.
Though, I've never figured out how they stack. It says you can't go above level 3, but some things aren't "leveled", I think.

I think only the stat-increases are leveled. ie: If you boost your Constitution +1, you will need two more enchancements to move it another notch up. If that makes sense.
I hope I'm right about that.
Ekard2006-10-06 20:29:19
Artifacts regen and racial regens do stack only to level 3.
So racial level 3 regen + level 2 from arti = level 3 regen.
But you can add enchantments regen up to that. But for now only Mercy is regeneratinf 5% of your max health.
Perfection and Beauty will only regenerate flat 75 mana/ego. I haev bugged it but it is like that from so long that im not sure if its bug or not.
And few other skills will stack on top of that, but not all some are counted as racial regens.
"Racial" regens from skills are honor from sacraments for sure.
Regen from skills that will add to those regens are:
performance from dramatics (ego regen) - im not sure if its different on highr skil llevel but for me on inept dramatics it only regen 75 ego at cost of mana)
ironwill in psionics (ego regen) only flat 75 ego per tick - seems similiar bug to Beauty/Perfection and maybe performance
regeneration + boost from athletics (health regen) works ok, with boost its really nice regen.
There is few more regen skills but i dotn know how they work so i wont post about them here.
And as you can see. There is a lot more health regens then mana or ego and those dont regenerate at fast rate. Only racial regens for mana and ego seems to work. Of course regen for health works too.
So level 1 - 3%
level 2 - 5%
level 3 -8%
So racial level 3 regen + level 2 from arti = level 3 regen.

I'm pretty sure all health regeneration defenses besides mercy are measured alongside racial/artifact regeneration. For example, if you have level 3 regeneration from artifacts, the tree totem will have no affect on your health regeneration. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Im not sure how tree totem works. But athletics regen works for sure with level 3 racial/arti regen.

I think some do, but not all. I think all regen from skills in Totems (and Totem specs, like from crowform/stagform/drawdown/nightkiss) counts as Racial regen, and does not stack past level 3. However, skills from other classes, like Honor and athletics Regeneration, do not count as racial regen, and thus do not count towards the level 3 regen limit.
I hate undocumented inconsistances so much >_<
