As opposed to a whopping 2?
I don't see how making it even easier to attack a single person en masse would improve the game at all. Personally, you should get suspect on anyone who has you declared when you die, provided you would gain suspect on your killer AND you would gain suspect on each of the co-killers individually.
There are few situations on prime where killing someone is justified and you still get avenger ("Oh noes! He's running around on the highway!") although some sentient bashing grounds which should enemy people, don't (Grey moors, for example).

@Ryanne: Yes, prime is not supposed to be 100% dangerous. But guess what, right now if I had to assign a scalar to prime, from 0 to 100 with 100 being the most dangerous, I'd give it a 10.
I'd give it a 50 for the simple fact that people get jumped quite often in non-enemy territory.
However, if you remove suspect from vitae it might become considerably more dangerous and considering that the avenger is effective -only- on prime I don't see why that would be necessary. Every other plane, including those that your city/commune defends are 100% FREE AND OPEN PK. Prime is the -only- plane that isn't.

As soon as I get an unblockable, power free, rezz (read: dark rebirth), sure.
As soon as I get a free, permanent ability that makes me impossible to attack in any way unless I commit a hostile action, sure.

This game is about conflict, with tangible losses if you die.
Actually, I think if you took a poll at this point, most players would say that Lusternia was about role-play.
While few players would actually want the conflict to disappear, there seems to be a sizable majority who want to be able to just relax sometimes without having to leave the game to do it.
Maybe we could start toning down this rhetoric to "conflict is a vital part of Lusternia" or something?

Vitae still has to be counted as a death, because it is one.
If it did not, then resurgemed, soulrezzed and immolated people shouldn't give their attackers suspect either... and I can't imagine that would be very agreeable, either to those saying they want people to pray and those who don't want endless targetted PK.
I'd prefer if you only got suspect status on your second death though, which would have a similar effect without borking vitae potions.
That is, kill me once and you have victory status... kill me twice without me counterquesting/entering your territory/attacking you in the mean time and you're a curseable suspect, kill me three times and you're vengeanced, baby.

I would much rather see this, enemy status given for areas with sentients like Aslaran/Korkani in the Moors and Merians ion the Isles, than no suspect for vitae deaths. It gives a similar result for dealing with those people who like to hunt in the areas. It will give the conflict and ability to defend those areas while still leaving vitae as a defence against getting jumped while walking to the Peak or where ever.

I agree with your suggestion. Sentient beings should also come to each other's aid. Last, they should attack enemies on sight. They see that Aqua walking in that is known to kill their people, those that see him should start attacking. Make bashing sentient beings a bit more challenging.
Unknown2006-09-28 22:22:15
I guess there's no enemying for killing aslarans and krokani because, well, let's face it - they're the bashable NPCs. Just like merians and gorgogs. Contrary to what people say, this isn't God Wars - there are some places where you should be able to do what you want in peace without the fear of being jumped. Hence, "safe" bashing zones. Hence, vitae.
Second argument - I am 100% sure that we all know what will happen if we don't get suspects on vitae deaths. Griefing, griefing, 500% more griefing by people who, in approximation, think this way:
"OMG i killed im so my e-penis is this long:

"but i wnt him too pr3y cuz then my e-penis w0ld B thiz long!:
