I should think contradicting himself like that was a pretty big giveaway...

Well for those of us that are deaf, it's pretty damn hard. Thank you very much!

Well I wasn't. So nyah.

Lets keep Vitae, nice for defending.
Kyleel2006-09-29 05:27:34
Remove Avenger and Karma.
Then there is no suspect on vitae.
Sylphas2006-09-29 05:56:22
I feel so left out. I just get yelled at when I kill merians, I've never gotten teamed by anyone. sad.gif

And don't even think about implementing sentient mob enemy status until we get non-sentient bashing grounds (which is very unlikely to happen, since we've yet to really get a bashing ground without some kind of backstory and community). Bashing is annoying enough as is.

Pro: A few people who abuse the vitae->suspect connection won't be able to abuse it in that manner any more.
Con: Why use vitae? More people will be praying. People *hate* praying and will be more likely to quit. Thus, it's a bad business decision to do this.

I already don't use vitae as it is because a.) dying twice means an extra 5% exp lost. b.) I'm stupid, paraphrased log below and c.) praying... you lose 5 minutes and what, 2% exp? OE NOES! I just go clean my room or something. Praying is good for my health! biggrin.gif

Damn you, Sham! This was your thread, why am I the one arguing it?

EDIT: Just appended to this post after seeing Xenthos'. I understand that point and honestly, I think that should be the only viable reason for not implementing this change. It all boils down to what's best for business, I guess. Doesn't mean I'll like it. Meh. People should learn to toughen up and not cry when they end up praying.

see above comment for my outlook on prayer.

No, people who troll with them should be forum banned for a week. dry.gif

I motion for 52x that punishment.

I don't like that idea... cause then, when I'm stupid (and let's face it, I am a lot! laugh.gif ) and forget I put my mending in my pack (cause that's how I see how many of what potion I have, I put them in my pack and then take them back out) and go hunt starsuckers and then die cause they broke something and I thought I mended it but I didn't I can't figure out why I'm not able to shield and they do their super duper attack on me.... I'll loose all my pretty leeches and starsuckers and essence balls! (this has happened)

As promised, here is a paraphrased log from me hunting on astral.

Me too. Stopped using vitae long before I got lich. Just meant I died twice all the time.
And it got to the stage where it was just a big drain on power.

Really though it depends on whether you're dying more to players or mobiles I think.
Once I started to die more often to players rather than mobiles, vitae just gave them a second chance to kill me, but this time with all my defences down.

So... thanks to Ash for talking me into transing Necromancy wub.gif
Ashteru2006-09-29 13:06:47
Yeah, Lich is sweet. Though I usually ghost before I die while bashing, so that point is obsolete!

And I could even TASTE the sarcasm in that post, Vix... tongue.gif

You must do it when no one with any combat ability is around. I would definitely come for you.

It really irritates me how fighters apparently want the people they kill to pray. I don' see what the point is, unless they're really deliberately trying to spoil someone's enjoyment of the game.

I know I'm going to be flamed for this, but I don't think anyone should have to pray, ever. Not because of the experience loss, but because every time someone comes back from the dead, the story of the game becomes more permeated with deus ex machina and makes less sense. Death is supposed to be a permanent thing, ICly, even though a lot of people seem to ignore that and roleplay as if they could expect that anyone who prays, comes back. The thing is, Lich, Resurgem and Transmigrate are believable (Things like that are standard in fantasy roleplay). Conglutination is slightly less believable. Vitae is even less believable. Praying (Which involves direct para-divine intervention) is absolutely absurd and tends to ruin immersion. I know it's a lot to expect in Lusternia, but when someone dies and has to pray, he should be either mourned or his corpse should be hunted down and immolated.
Unknown2006-09-29 15:02:54
Yeah. They should at least get heavily wounded and crawl away by some luck - that sounds even less unlikely than some demi-gods giving the "OMG U r speshul u can't die!" 20 times in a row.

Besides, when someone mentions they just died, I feel like if I were in an FMA MUD, talking to a homunculus. If I wanted Full Metal Alchemist, I'd watch Full Metal Alchemist!

But I guess we can't do much about it.
