That game was pure evil.. I mean, I remember really loving the premise but I also remember mind-numbing grinding just to level up and then get pwned even worse by those stupid vampires in Mu or wherever. I clearly never got anywhere near to the end, much less did I beat the game. Combined with the fact that there was next to no way to heal yourself except for herbs few and far between... I'm surprised the cartridge is still whole.
Good old Illusion if Gaia, I loved it for the challenge but hated it at the same time. With me and my brother we stayed up late and pretty much beat it in a few days (we had rented it). True, lot of the bosses are tough but I guess the most diappointing thing about it is when you collect all the 50 jewels and complete the secret area you are faced with fighting the first boss from Soul Blazer (being one of the hardest bosses in that game, and even tougher with Will). I remember having to save all the herbs for only the toughest of bosses, like getting through the one boss in the Inca place without using more than two. Good times, good times. Oh and I dont think it is the worst game ever, maybe not the best. I do like Soul Blazer and Terranigma better.

Yes, I totally agree.
Meant to say this earlier but why do you guys keep bringing up FFX-2 and Myst? Myst is pretty good as far as puzzle games go, and FFX-2 may be a bit disappointing compared to the previous FF games but it can't really be thought of as one of the worst games ever can it?
Problem with FF-X2 is that it was supposed to be a direct sequel (the first FF direct sequel too) and it pretty much had nothing to do with the original game. They made the game in 6 months I think, since they could recycle all the landscapes/monsters. There was no effort put into the game that I saw, other then the two songs maybe. Either that, or I don't really get Japanese story telling.
Myst was kind of boring and repetitive, like Diablo, heh. Most computer games are.

My favourite roleplaying games are for the PC.
I tried Illusion of Gaia but got fed up with it pretty quickly. How is it possible to be battling monsters with a flute?! Nevermind the fact that the main character's a kid...

who insulted DDR?
Don't start me or I'll chain you to the machine till you can finish Paranoia Survivor Max Oni difficulty *halo*

Actually you guys are right, DDR shouldn't be mentioned on this thread. It's not really a game anyways .
Ildaudid2006-10-04 17:14:59
There are too many worst games ever, but the best are:
Road Rash (Series from Sega)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (Old Atari, first gen)
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (Intellivision)
and last but not least
Pitfall (Original Version for Atari)
ok back to the worst ones

Road Rash (Series from Sega)
One of the greatest set of games from my childhood.

I played Illusion of Gaia ages ago... the only challenge I had with it was finding all 50 of the red jewels for the secret ending. Other than that, I didn't find it too hard.
Saga Frountier 2... I liked it, and never had a chance to hate it due to the fact that I lost the game.
Legend of Dragoon... I really enjoyed it up until the part where the last Wingley dies... that really awesome dude with the silver hair... he kicked so much ass. That and, well, I think the final boss was very contrived. other than that, excellent story, but the mechanics made me cry.
FF Tactics... you don't end a game with "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU BEAT THE BOSS! PLEASE RESET SYSTEM"
But yea... worst game ever? FF7. It has too many fanboys/girls and frankly, it wasn't that great of a game. Way too easy... even the Weapons were a snore =/ Bring on the flames, you Sephiroth loving bastards.

Meh, name me a few, I might try them out. My expereience with computer RPGs, though, is that they get boring fairly quick.

Psh. Knights of the Old Republic?
Unknown2006-10-04 19:25:36
PC games are about the only games I can actually play....
@MrShrimp - So then In the Groove, Dance Mania, Guitar Hero, etc etc aren't games?

Okay, Im gonna nominate another one: Dragon Quarter. Such a disappointment to a good series. It was hard to get use to the system and even harder to perfect. I hate the last boss fights, trying to get through a shield that absorbed all damage unless you did major combos with your best attacks, may too combersome for my tastes.
Veonira2006-10-04 20:52:46
I thought Yo-noid on NES was awesomely bad. Like it was one of the worst games, yet I still played and enjoyed it.

Heh, get Tactics Advance. You could continue playing after you beat it.
And a lot of games end similar to that, such as Kingdom Hearts I & II, Skies of Arcadia. In both cases it ticked me off that you still got experience from beating the bosses when you'd never be use the stuff...

You die now!
Best story ever, the weapons were challenging (well, Ruby and Emerald were), great battle system that lets you come up with interesting combos, good diversity in characters, one of the biggest WTF story moments ever, great sound and graphics for the time it came out. The game is amazing.
Veonira2006-10-04 21:07:46
I actually also disliked Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.
What a boring game.
What a boring game.
Arix2006-10-04 21:44:33
I beat Emerald Weapon entirely by accident. I ran into it without underwater materia, and I hadn't saved in a while, so I had no choice but to beat the everloving crap out of it in the time allotted
Richter2006-10-04 22:52:05
You can do it sometimes, if you're good/lucky, without being prepared. But he does some mega attack that kills everyone sometimes, and sometimes he doesn't.
I found that final attack+phoenix was very good against him (well, against any boss that does those large attacks).
Also, I had some overpowered combo against ruby, something that let me summon over, and over, and over, and whenever I'd him him, I'd afflict him with something, since I had hades linked to... something. It's been a while.
By the way, I'm the kind of guy that went and had two or three master materia of each kind, gold chocobo, etc. I figure if I play that long, I deserve to be unstoppable.

Well if you're used to console RPGs I'm not even going to bother. I mean full RPGs too not something like diablo...
Well anyways Favourite PC RPG: Fallout, or Fallout 2.
