@Shaeden- Just kidding! I'm sure there are plenty of cool frenchie candies. *cough* I mean...French Canadians. Anywho...do we have any russian players?
And seriously people, stop with the whole Oh it's seren's fault or mostly their fault blah blah blah. Doesn't matter who started it, it's going to get finished one way or another. 'sides, BOTH SIDES are to blame. This war was slowly but surely building and it finally broke out, now we have to deal with it and stop it. So agree on the simple fact that there is a war and it's two warring people are Serenwilde and Celest and leave it at that.

Yeah really... Celest's crutch of amazing skills needs to be taken away now that they have the people to go around and beast on the rest of the basin.
Ekard2006-10-04 06:14:22
All cities/communes have nice skills. Just some are lacking of better players.
Our skills were like that from loong time, but we had to force with equal if not more strength of Magnagora. But now when their best fighters left or go inactive scale have gone on our side. Other guild have great skills too.
Just look at Tuek and Narsrim what they could do wiht moonies. Or Eiru as Nihilist. Not to mention Kaervas as geo, and many many more.
Good skills alone wont make good fighter from you.

I don't really like the war, OOC'ly or IC'ly. My character, who joined the realms and the Commune right around the start of the war, is tired of being a pincushion for Celestines. Dropping whatever I'm doing to die uselessly in the defense of my commune is frustrating both for the character and the player. At the same time, he would never support any kind of ban, not because he has any desire to kill angels but because it is an extremely out of character law for the Serenwilde to impose.
QFT
As much as this game is conflict driven, the whole EVERY #@#$ CITIZEN TO CELESTIA NOW! THAT'S AN ORDER I AM A DUKE/EARL HAHAHAHAHHAHAH PHEAR MEH! is a little much. Seriously, half out citizens (read: me and everyone as weak/dumb) don't have a clue or a hope of making /any/ difference in a fight. So don't drag them into it. Want an IC excuse? They are the weaker people who you fight to protect. Done. I've had 2 friends (OOC) join lusternia and quit 'cause they said everyone is Celest is too demanding and it just makes things not fun.
Nico2006-10-04 16:31:09
Personally, I don't see too much of that anymore. In fact, the -only- time I actually saw that happening was when the Supernals were being killed, which is a legitimate IC reason to flip out over people not bothering to help.
As far as I've seen, lately we've relied almost solely on brigade members, and, well, if someone's not willing to help defend, why are they in the brigade?

Not to pick at anything, but last night, Noola got a Tell telling her to get to Celestia cause there was going to be a raid on Nil. Not an invitation, "Hey, we're gonna raid, wanna come?" but an order. And she's not in the Brigade.
It was cool though cause Noola loves an occasional adventure, and I enjoy it too. I think I even managed to land a couple of hits before I died, both times. I'm just hoping that when the inevitable 'Squash the Noola!' retribution happens, that whoever deals it makes it interesting instead of just BAM! SQUISH! Cause that would be more fun.
Anyway, just thought I'd point out that getting ordered into action doesn't ONLY happen to folks in the Brigade.

true, sometimes those not in the brigade are ordered to do something too, but it's sooo very rare no one really has any room to complain. I really like your attitude towards it as a player, Noola! Awesome that you took it well and made it fun, more people should be like that!
And again, just to reiterate-people that aren't in the brigade are told to do something so sparsely, it's completely negligible

to clarify for those that misunderstood, i did not mean that ixion has no skill just that he never uses it, he only invokes fear because of his swords, murphy + daevos are both good with or without there highpowered weapons however ive never seen ixion without
Forren2006-10-04 18:31:38
We did order people up there if they were capable of providing support. We didn't send novices to die. We need all hands for a demon lord hit. It was worth it.

Eh, I don't get you. Are you saying he shouldn't fight with those weapons even though he has them? Why would anyone with a brain handicape themselves in that way? And the weapons don't make the man...if he didn't know how to use them properly, they'd be useless to him.

I have to say, Ixion is skilled. Just because he has amazing swords doesn't mean he's not. That's like attributing all of Daevos' prowess to his sword, or Murphy to his hammers, or Geb to his arties. Or heck, even me to my helm.
You shouldn't attribute all of his success to a singular factor such as that, that's faulty logic. I mean, that's like saying people who bought a lot of credits are only good because of that. It takes more than just credits to be really good (Raizan comes to mind), just as it takes more than just good weapons. I mean, there are plenty of omni-trans, or nearly omni-trans'd out there, but they're still not considered elite fighters.
To be fair, the prowess of most of the people you listed is significantly influenced by their weapons except for Geb, who seems to be more strategy based in his methods. Murphy, for example, was a great combatant, but with post-cap weapons, he was unable to kill me in 5 hits (that's right, -5- hits) and as a result, tended to lose spars. He reached a point where there was no way he'd dare fight me without his absurd hammers. With them, he did fairly well. Without them, he lost.
In sum, take away the weapons of these people and give them post-cap weapons. How would they do? I'm willing to bet Ixion wouldn't do that well.
Nico2006-10-04 23:35:49
Sure, their abilities are significantly influenced by their weapons, I didn't mean to say they weren't. All I'm saying is that these individuals, given typical weapons available to all players would still be better than 95% of the player base.

Only insofar as 95% of the playerbase uses a substandard healing system.

For those who are saying that Murphy and Ixion and etc are only good because of their crazy weapons...if you take away any person's weapons, aren't they pretty much teh suckeh? Weapons are tools, that are meant to be used. If Murphy and co. know how to use their weapons then they're skilled. They know how to use this and that to make themselves defeat an enemy, whether or not they have crazy weapons. What good is an expert archer without his bow and arrows? Or a skilled equastriad without his horse?
