I'd like to see violins. Or even better, a ukulele
Abethor2006-10-22 18:13:41
The lyre has such a good name, so it definitely is the coolest!

There are Violins now.

We should get wind instruments that can play by themselves when enchanted or dipped in vitae or something! Of course, playing chords on wind instruments is a bit hard (though possible! I've actually done it!).
Verithrax2006-10-22 19:51:18
We should have harps. Harps are actually winning the poll.

Oh. Good thing I didn't vote yet.
Wouldn't harps be a little big for an instrument?
Ildaudid2006-10-22 22:06:12
That demonic lyre is the coolest out there I think, but of course it is not being offered anymore, nor is it even a magnagoran design, it is someone's design who made it private, from what I heard. Glad my momma got one before they went private... and the other people that have them.... well they are lucky too

My design actually, and yeah, private. One released a year. I like the concept of rarity.

Sorry but harps are too big to carry around and play. And, even if there are harps, you certainly wouldn't be able to stand and play one in any case. (Unless of course they can only be usable by tae'dae and igasho, which is hardly worth coding since I expect that to be very rare.)
Unless you are thinking of those smaller harps which are called lyres!
We could I suppose have a special category of huge non-movable instruments like harps and pianos or organs, but that would require a lot of thinking. Maybe next year.

There should be triangles! Ding..
Nementh2006-10-22 23:27:56
Can we add cello's and bass fiddles to...
I can see them having the problem of transportation issues... make them kinda like the 'unmovables' just instead of unmovable have them have a set up time so I can have my string quartet....

Er, no. There are harps small enough to carry around, and a lyre is not a small harp, but rather a completely different instrument: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harp
Most small folk harps are only slightly bulkier than a guitar, or, in fact, less bulky (They are certainly lighter than a solid-body guitar!)
And lyres are not harps.

I also would love to see the winds, and precussion, even if they can not be used with Bard skills.
Technically you can march with a xylophone strapped to your back (and my high school used to, in the past), but it really, REALLY, isn't good for your back.
But then again, seeing as people in Lusternia can carry an unlimited amount of weight and corpses...

I said carry around and play and it looks like you have to sit down to play those "small harps"!
Lyres are pretty close to small harps if you ask me.
Anyway, no harps in Lusternia that you can stand and play or easily carry.

I rather like lap harps, theyre fun to play -hum- Much cooler than a frilly lil lyre
personally.... my only question is....
why tf do these instruments take so much wood Seriously.. a lute shouldn't take anywhere near half as much wood as it takes to make a full sized BED

Because you need the PERFECT piece of wood and have to go through a lot to get just the right bit. The commodity number does not mean that it takes so much wood in volume to make the instrument, but rather that's how much wood you need to go through to get the quality wood needed for the instrument.
