Oh, and I'm so excited about the aetherspace scavenger hunt! But... will crews be able to share the prize? Or is it a single person thing only?

Whee! biggrin.gif

This would be the right time for my server to 'accidentally' crash and all the aetherspace maps disappear, right? superninja.gif

Will it require killing stuff? I might log in from my temporary dormancy just for the scavenger hunt ninja.gif

Very dissapointed I have doubles both on saturday and sunday. While I would very much like to join the single combat tournament, I will most be sad about missing the poetry event, especially as I feel Glomdoring has a very good chance of winning.
Ekard2006-10-05 05:56:27
I will miss most of that events too. Stupid friends wedding. sleep.gif

But i for sure goan buy some lottery tickets. But most likely i already got my share of lottery winings. biggrin.gif

Not to be a party pooper...

(Who am I fooling? Of course I love being a pessimistical prick.)

But the game is in a very sorry state right now, given the size of the playerbase and how it feels. Most current players were here for the first anniversary, and that is not a good thing - We've barely gotten any new regular players since the very early days of the game, and old people are getting burned out and leaving constantly. Roleplay in Lusternia is dead and going the same way as Achaea's, fighters dominate the game and turn it into an arena for their cockfighting, and several organizations are emptying out. Doom and gloom, everyone. What is there to celebrate?

I think this will be good for us, a bit of a break ingame.

Doom and gloom, everyone. What is there to celebrate?

There's been an influx of active divine recently, and with the large-scale IRE coding out of the way, admin-player feedback and improvement has skyrocketed to a new high, with envoy reports going through twice a month and bugs, typos and updates going in on a scale I've never seen before.

A completely new PvE and PvP system was unveiled and completed, with new areas and quests popping up all the time. I think we also consistently out perform most of the other IRE games in game-wide RP events, and we just need a few adjustments before it begins to filter down to the character level.

We've had some trouble with certain organizations, that's true, but this is also a time at which we see the administration stepping up and making drastic changes - fixing the problem and working on improving both the initial experience and retention appeal of the game to potential players. They're working with players to make Lusternia a place that people really want to get involved in.

It's unfortunate we've had a war that coincides with the celebrations, but I think a lot of the 'doom and gloom' has sprung from the expected result of a powerful org bearing down with excessive force on a weaker adversary. Once the smoke clears from this skirmish, I think the general level of contentment will increase again markedly, and Lusternia will start to grow steadily and improve once again.

We've got an absolutely incredible administration working with us here in Lusternia, the most intricate and beautifully crafted world I've ever seen, and some of the nicest, most intelligent and most interesting people from around the globe form its community.

Yes, there are quite a few problems and areas which we need to work on, but to say there's nothing to celebrate is not true in the slightest!

No more raining on the parade! tongue.gif

yay.gif

Edit: And I'm one of the biggest complainers in Lusternian history. Even I can find the positives to celebrate!
Verithrax2006-10-05 08:08:59
All that is overshadowed by the fact that we're becoming a game that appeals to a smaller and smaller niche, which is already mostly in the game.

Personally I think this is due to a lack of features which are accessible and appeal to people who are NEW to the game. Aetherships and combat mean nothing at all for people who have just come in and are testing the waters a little, no matter how much the people with 500+ USD invested in it enjoy it.
Unknown2006-10-05 08:11:42
Well, I think you're wrong on the count of Aetherships. They're one of the few features which are actually inclusive of those who only spend 30 lessons or so in the skillset. Sure, there's not a lot to actually DO in aetherspace yet, but don't discount it out of hand!

And we're all welcome to suggest a list of changes that would fix the problems in Lusternia at the moment... but not on the celebratory thread, eh?

The average newbie, semi-newbie or post-newbie does not have ready access to an aethership and would have very little to do on it. And it's a highly social thing. It needs to be something you can practice alone, but which improves with more people to join in.
Unknown2006-10-05 08:54:45
Oh ffs would you take the complaining (I'm not saying you don't have some valid points) to another thread and just let people enjoy this.
Unknown2006-10-05 09:24:42
Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what your point was Verithrax, since it wouldn't make sense to have a "depression" instead of an anniversary. We're celebrating the fun we are having and had throughout the year. They are having quizes and contents instead of "just" combat related items.
