admition is just a process of permission.

I can fully admit that you think I did something, which I did not, and if there is say, an inquisition I can fully admit to being whatever you want me to be, even if I am not. It gives the other person the permission to act upon you as if it were true, even if it is not.

If you're admitting to something, and you know it isn't true, we call that "lying". That is completely different, and completely invalidates anything the liar in question said anyway.

alternative definition: To grant as true or valid, as for the sake of argument; concede.

Lets take two sentences:

1. Ok, its true, I am the gingerbread man.

2. Ok, I admit, I am the gingerbread man.

I don't find these two statements to be saying the same thing. *shrug*
To me, the second sentence is much less compelling than the first.

Also, I don't find the other 4 definitions, relating the word to entry to a doorway, or to a club, or used as a ticket to a place, to be disconnected from the "truth" or "evidence" related definitions.

To me, the basic meaning of the word is , "I will allow this to pass into whatever", and that whatever can be a doorway, an abstract category, a condition, a group, or whatever, and once its there, then the person who sent it there, removes all their responsibility with whatever was admitted.

Okay, I admit it, you are right.

Excuse me, but I do believe you are blind. He admitted to being Novinha even in the event that it is not true, and further went on to state that he will not admit whether it is true or untrue that he is Novinha.

Actually, he admitted to being Novinha EVEN IF it's not true. Meaning that he admits to being Novinha either way.
