...I knew the monkies cheated..

Um, no. If it was an obliterating critical, the aslaran should have died in one hit. At least, that's what happens with moonburst and gorgogs.

Edit: Unless monk-criticals go by blows? I always thought that if they got a critical it would be for the entire combo. Otherwise there's not much point... If they were separate, though, then getting three obliterating criticals in a row is a "whoa".
Furien2007-07-27 09:43:53
Punches and shofa are much weaker than regular magical attacks. A kick is about 3x the strength of a punch or shofa, which is why monks need so many criticals to hunt good.
Aramel2007-07-27 09:47:27
I see. But do the criticals go for the entire combo, or just the one blow? If the latter... that's just painful.
Lysandus2007-07-27 09:48:52
After succesfully stunning the frog, I decided to poke it again...

With your mighty index finger extended, you poke a hideously mutated frog.
A hideously mutated frog twitches its little legs in the air.

Poor thing unsure.gif

Those frogs are the reason I want firecrackers to show up in Lusternia:

Without criticals, it takes me 7 whole combos to take down an aslaran warrior, and that's assuming every single punch and kick hits. The 8x oblits in a single combo are just slightly over what I need to kill an aslaran warrior at level 60 Human (12/13/13/13/12/12). Each blow in a form has a separate chance to critical. That was my first time getting all my blows to crit, not to mention oblit. That's why I was like "holy censor.gif wtf"

As such, an entire monk combo is about as powerful as a single moonburst (I also opt to use punches in my hunting combo over shofas because punches are faster). Bashing only seems faster because the combos go by absurdly fast and crits proc more often.

Not to mention the fact that knocking us down or off balance completely disrupts our katas and we have to restart them.

It does depend on the base damage of the attack being used. With my Klangaxe, I would generally need two high level crits and then three normal hits with my old klangaxe (which decayed while I was on the road cry.gif ), but if I get two Crits and then one hit with my waraxe, that aslaran just drops. My waraxe has nearly, if not more than, 3x the damage of my klangaxe.

About three months ago, whenever I went bashing alone, every other attack that hit was a crit of some kind. And then whenever I went hunting in groups, even if it was just one extra person, I stopped critting completely. I could never 100% prove my logs. Very mysterious on the whole dazed.gif

I wish I'd saved that log where I double World Shattered Ciarus to death. 2-shot, biatch!

I spy with my little eye a pure knockdown maneuver in my list.

*hum* Psychometabolism Gliding should offer some sort of resistance to knockdown.

Sorry. You being able to walk on water has absolutely nothing to do with me hooking my axeblade around your leg and yanking you parallel to the ground.

You can hear the difference between 'or' and 'our' though (if you pronounce our like hour)

And what has our guildmaster been up to O_o
